I think I may have a blood clott in my leg, but my insurance has temporarily lapsed. I have no way of paying for an emergency room visit on my own.

If you are having pain, feel a hot spot on your leg (especially in the calf) and it hurts to flex your foot, yes, go to an ER NOW. They will treat you regardless of your ability to pay, but you will get a bill (sorry to say). A potential clot on your leg is nothing to fool with, it can lead to complications like stroke, a pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lung) or a heart attack. Get yourself to the ER.

If you really think it is a blood clot, you should see a doctor immediately. If it dislodges, it can travel to the heart, lung, or brain, causing a heart attack, stroke, or death. This is not something that can be delayed. It is a medical emergency.

Is there a doctor you can call? A free clinic? Call a social worker at a hospital, explain your financial situation, and ask how to get help. Do not walk around, as it could cause a clot to dislodge. Use the phone to get information. If you know someone who does have a doctor, have them ask their doctor how to get help for you.

If your leg is painful, swollen, red and warm to the touch, go to the emergency room. If you have a clot and it embolizes to your lungs, heart, or brain, you'll have worse problems than your insurance lapsing.
Do you have a history of clots? If so you're at greater risk.
Are you sure it's not muscular pain?
Better get it check out ASAP

GO!!! if u dont this could lead to big problems.

My suggestion: when you get a bill with the payment you can't make try calling the hospital and explain your situation and tell them that you want to pay only a specific amount every month. Most hospitals give this kind of option or they might offer something else you just have to find that out.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Get yourself checked out. Some hospitals if you qualify will not charge you based upon your yearly income. They call it "free care" and if your worried about insurance try checking into combined inc. They offer plans as little of $20 per month. I remember starting the PD academy and needed insurance quick.

First things first take care of yourself, money is only material. You can make payments to the hospital if needed.

i agree with everyone else blood clots are a serious condition if you value your life you will go to the ER NOW!!!

BLOOD CLOT: A clot forms when clotting factors in the blood cause it to coagulate or become a solid, jelly-like mass. When a blood clot forms inside a blood vessel (a thrombus), it can dislodge and travel through the blood stream, causing a heart attack or stroke. (defintion found www.clevelandclinic.org/heartcenter/pub/glossary/b.asp)

go as fast as you can

worry about money later thats no where near as important as ur life

This is a life threatening emergency. If you do have a blood clot in your leg and it becomes dislodged you may end up with a stroke, heart attack, pulmonary embolism (all 3 could kill you). You decide. Can your family do with out you or your income? Please go to ED.

blood clots can cause whats called a embolism. the clot could break free of your leg and travel to you heart and into your lung. it is a very serious and life threatening condition. long periods of inactivity, and females who smoke while on birth control have increased risk.

what are symptoms you have? if your leg is swollen, red ,hot, and tender you may have deep vein thrombosis, this is emergency case because if you don't use anticoagulant drugs you may have cardiac infarction or lung embolism, so i think your health is much important than money! good luck
