to tell you the truth... the arms don't hurt... I have 2 large tattoos that go across my spine and they didn't hurt as much as getting my Caves done... I find the ones that have the most fat or muscle around them are the ones that hurt the most... Just think the little bit of pain for a life time of memories is well worth it...

Anywhere you get a tattoo its going to hurt a little, just some people have a better tolerance for pain. To me it feels like somebody is pinching you a 100 times in the same spot. I have 7 tattoos, 1 on the back of my neck, 1 on my calf, 1 on my ankle, 1 on my foot, 1 on my shoulder, and one on each wrist.

I would start out with something small and not a lot of color. My first one was on the back of my neck and I didn't feel a thing. I agree with everybody else....STAY AWAY FROM A BONE!! The one on my foot was the most painful by far!!!

As always make sure it is something that you really want because it will be there forever!!

Look in some of the tattoo mags...they advertise a topical gel that numbs the skin, skin only...makes it easier...I haven't used it but my friends have...check with the shop..they might have it too...

I have 10...top of my foot, ankle, left thigh, right hip, lower back just over the base of my spine, around half of my belly button, left arm, right and left back shoulders, and the left side of my neck.

None of them hurt unless I had alot of white which has to go in a little deeper. Fortunatly only one tattoo has any large space of white..any other white was used as a highlight and didn't hurt.

I am 110 lbs and 5'8....alot of my tats are near bone...I don't have alot of fleshy parts....I have a high tolerance too...I have watched tougher guys than me cry while on the table. And I am just "a little ol'e girl" You might be tougher than you think!

I personally think the longer it takes the more likely it will hurt as it gets closer to being done. And hurt is a negotiable answer...what is your version of pain.....I have a LOW tolerance for injury type pain but my tatts are no problem at all.

hope this helps!

anyplace that is fleshy and doesn't have a lot of nerve endings.

Upper arm, forearm, thigh, or lower leg not on your ankle the skin there is thin and it is bony.

Don't follow James' advice about the beer it will make you bleed more freely since it thins your blood and if your tattoo is being done at a reputable shop they will not tattoo you if you have been drinking. You can also ask the artist to test the gun on you without color to see if you can tolerate it. He/she will think you are a whimp but better that than get a third of the way into the design and chicken out.

outer arm or lower stomach. the outer arm is probably the least painful of all. ive never seen anyone complain with that, however i have seen differing opinions on every other part of the body. for example inearly fell asleep when i had my stomach done, yet a guy i work with nearly passed out from the pain!
Dont go for anywhere bony or where theres delicate skin (inner arm, ankle, foot, neck etc) if you're worried about the pain. then if you dont feel it was so bad this time maybe you can move onto somewhere else later.
though be aware, it is a tattoo, so its gonna hurt

I got my inner ankle tattooed and felt little more than something like carpet burn, though I do have relatively fat ankles and a rather good pain threshold.

A friend had the upper curve of her breast tattooed with similar results and her bust size was modest at best.

I would decide on a design and then have a consulatation with a tattoo artist, because they could best assess where the design could be fixed with minimum pain.

The size and detail of what you want coupled with your distribution of cushioning fat is really the biggest decider on where would hurt less, though.

i have tatts around my ankle, on my back shoulders, upper arm, and on my spine.

The spine hurt the most and i have a huge tolernce for pain( natural child birth was a snap for me..for point of reference)

Any where that your a bit more "fatty" is best. Bone, muscle and tendeions hurt the most.

Look its going to hurt. it feels like a very sharp needle being dragged across your skin cause guess what.. a needle is being dragged across your skin. Go in knowing it will hurt is a good thing.

Start small with min. colors and work your way upi to bigger and more. Once you get one, you cant stop..they are addictive.

Good luck.

The fleshier the better. I'm a big girl myself and when I got a tattoo I didn't find it that painful anyway. Truthfully! The length of time taken on the tattoo is the bit that causes re all pain. Small quick tattoos are much better.

Anywhere you have a lot of muscle built up is the least sensitive. The upper arm/shoulder is prob the easiest spot. Honestly it doesn't hurt like some make it out to though.
