I find it good entertainment, but spoiled sometimes by the youngsters, they can be so acerbic!

I am 53 and love it on here. I am always happy to help with info or advice if I can, no matter what the age of the person asking the question. I am more of an answerer having not asked any questions so far. My only gripe with some of the younger generation, both here on Yahoo! Answers and in life generally, is thier poor grammar and spelling. I think this is largely due to the increase in txt messaging rather than anything else, but it is nonetheless basically laziness. It is perhaps a shame that Answers doesn't have a spell checker to corrrect errors before questions/answers are sent.

I'm 59. I joined just a few days ago and only posted 1 joke. It was a spin on a real life experience, deliberately meant to be inane and ludicrous. I was at first somewhat taken aback by a couple of the responses, but then figured it's just that some (younger?) members may not have seen the intended absurdity.

That being said, these "kids" can sure exercise the gray matter. Some of the riddles are very good and many answers are creative. I've gotten a chuckle or three several times.

I agree with Peter M about the writing skills, but it's not limited to youth. I was a member of a medical forum where most were well past 50. By the spelling, grammar, and punctuation (or lack thereof) you'd think half of them dropped out in 3rd grade. I had to crank up my O2 to read some of the messages.

Not that anyone asked, but if I were to advise the youth of today, I'd say have fun with your IM, SMS, and these forums, but make sure to cultivate your writing talents.

It's tough sledding in the real world and most employers, especially in high tech, will drop you from consideration in a nanosecond if your resume, cover letter, or "thank you" letter contains ANY typo, misspelled word, or grammatical error.

BTW: Peter, there is a spell checker, and I really need one. I failed English,.... TWICE!!!

Should we open a new forum for over fifties? But then I would miss the irreverence of the youngsters. In a way it is refreshing. May be it is better to have the young and the old in the same forum. In real life they give you the brush. At least in the virtual world you know what they are thinking about. And you don't want to be totally cut off from the young world, do you?

I am only 17 since October,i think that a lot of peoples views of younger people are completely stereotypical. i noticed in one comment there was references to young people having tattoos, apart from the fact that having a tattoo has nothing to do with if they spoil yahoo answers or not, neither i, nor any of my friends have a tattoo nor wish to get one and if someone has a tattoo it is only body art, it does not automatically make them a hooligan or anything of the sort. i do agree, however, that some young people do ruin answers by only caring about points. they answer questions with "i don't know" and other useless comments like that. i personally do not see why there is such a big deal with getting point and moving up to the next level.

Not over fifty, hopefully will get there one day. Would like to add that my grand dad always used to say live and let live. If we always hear arguments that support our own views we'll never learn. When I was a young he would listen to my ideas about how to do odd jobs round the house, even if he'd done it his way all his life. Sometimes we would do the job his way sometimes mine. What I am trying to say is, we should listen to the old and young, everyone has something to offer.

We can help the youngsters with our knowledge and guide them when we can, I know some of them can be aggressive and irritating but patience and tolerance is part of Yahoo. We were all young at one time. I am nearly 55

I for one - I am over 60. But I do agree with you. The young can be so angry over trivia, and so aggressive. (This is NOT written to insult other participants as that would be agains Yahoo rules.)
