Why do they?
I think it makes some look hot though but why do they and some glasses they wear are really thick but they wear them on the tip of the nose why?

I'm taking a guess that perhaps the glasses are for reading only and they wear them on the end of the nose so that it is 1) easy to look over them at everything else for which they do not need the prescritption lenses and 2) being at the end of the nose, they are naturally situated in a good position for her to just glance down to look through the lenses and do the reading (if I'm right about them being reading glasses).

I think it's because they are reading glasses. That way you can have them on, and look over the top of them when you need to see something at a distance. With reading glasses I tend to have them on and off all day long, so sometimes it's easier to wear them on the tip of my nose and leave them on!

As you get older, usually around the mid 40's, your eyes do not focus as quickly as they used to. You need the glasses for reading but you don't need them for looking across the room or elsewhere. Thus, the tendency to wear the glasses at the tip of their nose so they can look over them when you don't need them.

One reason could be that they are both near and far sighted and the glasses need to be removed for one or the other and it is easier to just look over the top of the frames than to remove and replace them all the time.

because there are different powered glasses for long and

short distances & usually they are wearingshort distance ones

hence they keep on the tip of the nose, when not required.

I think it's the wt.of those thick lenses that pull them to the end of their nose.

this might have two reasons.
1)the weight of the glasses
2)mostly old guys will have both long and short sight problems....
so a single lens 'll have two .types of glasses.so while using the lower one ...they jus slip it a li'l bit down!!
