a cocker spaniel will be the same as all other breeds of female dogs! They aren't any diffrent. Generally the average is the dog will come into heat about every 6 months. Thats about 2 times a year. Some dogs are more, some are less. Just depends on the dog. Once in heat a dog can be in heat and receptive for up to 4 WEEKS. Generally its 2 weeks, but has been know to last 4. If they do not breed in that intial heat, the hormones in the body may not go back to normal and throw the dog into a second heat about a month afterwards. Some dogs can delevop false pregnancies too if they are very sensitive to there heat cycles. Unless you know ALLLLLL the details and the work that goes into breeding, best to just spay her now and save you and her all that hassle.

Most often, in all breeds of dogs, they come into heat about every 6 months. If you are not planning on breeding her (and that depends on you and the dog's pedigree, if there is one), then, get her spayed before she comes into heat for the first time. Otherwise, if you are planning on breeding, I would certainly think you would have "vetted" her before now--although, you did not state her age. Best of luck which ever way you go.

This really depends on the dog. On average every 6 to 7 months. But she could come in as long as every 10 months or as early as every 4 months.
