Everyday, I go through a green university area where inumerable seminars are held on Pollution control. But very often I find either garbage or old leaves being burnt giving rise to choking smoke, I wonder how the intellectuals carry their message.

Ask not what those intellectuals are doing about environmental pollution - but ask instead, what YOU can do to 'carry the message' about our need to drastically reduce it !
Every time you ride in a petrol/diesel fueled vehicle, every time you burn garbage, or light a 'choola' [coal-fired stove] at home, you are also contributing to an increase in environmental pollution...
How are YOU going to try reduce this ? When you show that you can and you will, your friends and neighbours will be impressed by your effort - and try emulate your example.
It has to be a slow and steady fight with pollutants.
Best of Luck.

Pollution such as controlling sulfur compounds and toxic waste should and could be controlled. Domestic energy should and could be researched and developed. CO2 is not a pollutant at least not scientifically. We should curb pollution and develop new energy but doing so under the guise of doomsday is not the appropriate way of proceding on the issue.

we should control pollution. this is duty of a citizen. but many of us do not come forward to do this because our thinkings are like that. you said that you are listening to inumerable seminars about pollution. will you come forward and take steps to control pollution? if so there is nothings to ask more. but your mind do not allow you to do this. so frist we should change our thoughts so that we can control pollution.

They should carry the message to elementary schools--as our kids learn so little there, if no one convinces them to learn--there will be no one to control pollution--or anything else.
