I would like to use products from around the house, ie, 'cosmetics from the kitchen'. I don't have the money right now to buy any specialty items, so it must all be homemade. Also, what steps can I take to maintain my hair once I do achieve that healthy shine?

Cheap greasy Mayo is the best conditioner you will ever find. Saturate your dry hair and cover with a plastic cap. Leave in for an hour or longer. Wash and style as usual. You will love the results!!

The absolute best is a product called Silk Drops from FX Special Effects. Its really inexpensive and works amazing! You can get it at any Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, etc. You'll love it!

Hate to say it but good hair starts with your diet. I started taking vitamin e and my hair really changed. My stylist is actually the one who suggested it when I was dealing with some dry, lack luster shine. Good luck!

take conditioner and put it into a bowl. mix about a cup of beer (no joke, it makes it sooo soft) into it. put it on your hair, and cover with a showercap or plastic bag. blast with a blow dryer for approx. 5 minutes.

do it whenever your hair feels coarse.
