China is keeping itself neutral in the Middle-East. Many of the Middle-East countries are China's trading partners, mainly China's supplier of oil for its continously growing industries.

China have its own space program, as does Japan. Many years ago, China was successful in launching their first spaceship and astronauts in space. They have also been launching their own satellites in orbit.

As for your question why China want to have a space test, I really don't know. But I guess it is for the same reason why the U.S. is conducting its own space test.

The Chinese Middle East policy is based on regional policy. The USA old policy to ward Taiwan forced china to stand against the USA Israeli policy in the Middle East. Today due the help of the Israeli lobby in Washington China Israeli relation are at their best. China got Americans technology via Israel. To day the Chines are happy to see the USA sink in Iraq for nothing but Israel. Chines are everywhere in the Middle East in great numbers. Chines products are every where too. China official policy on Palestine VS Israel is to keep the Middle East a war zone forever.

The Chinese are undergoing their own version of our "Industrial Revolution".
They are very interested in the political arena in the Middle East and everywhere else for that matter.

Make no mistake, the Chinese are interested; and they want the US to achieve it's goals in the Middle East.

One of the main reasons that we took over Afghanistan is to control the vast oil reserves in the region.
Why?
Because we are going to sell the oil to China.

Currently, Japanese engineers are in charge of the pipeline to bring newly drilled oil to China.

The Chinese plan to rule this planet someday.
To ever think that they are not concerned with other politics is naive.

China sees the middle east as a trading partner. They don't want to screw up other trading relations though. They don't really care about the political tension.

China is energy thirsty. They need middle eastern oil to sustain their economic growth. Their policies are designed so as to not offend the middle east and any oil supplier.
