The country the US and allies WERE officially at war with was Iraq. We are unofficially at war with Afghanistan. If you consider terrorism a country, then yes we are in World War III. Until Iran, North Korea, or China make an attack or get attacked, and unite together as more than 1, then there will not be a World War III.

According to this thing I saw along time ago WW3 will happen somewhere in 2012 or 2017 by some guy called Osama Mohamad.
I think people are worried about that, because the dude who predicted that also predicted WW1 and Hitler/WW2. Although, I think it was so vague, people just put his description to these wars and when "ZOMG! He was right!". He also predicted after this "WW3" there would be as close to world peace as can be obtained, but this war would last about 7 years. And,, that guy who predicted the WWs is Nostradama or Nostradamus guy. Well I hope that would not happen as I still want to enjoy my life =(

We are already involved in a world war.
All of the major powers are involved.
And the world will NEVER be the same.
What you're looking for is an open declaration, or perhaps an announcement that we are officially in WW3.
Understand that WW1 @ WW2 were not called "world wars" until after they were over.
Anyone disputing this would have agreed with calling the Korean and Vietnam wars "Police Actions".
