Yes, you can combine two units with PARALLEL cables. See the optional cables on the Honda generators as an example. The generators should be of equal size.

I don't know how small generators behave if they are connected out of phase. With large generators it is a disaster called equipment damage, fire or explosion.

Much better to split the load, and run the generators separately.
