Because when a baby is born it usually enters a society that has definite culture, religion, customs and so on. In the common case the parents of the child, its other relatives and the people it will communicate with have all these things in common and having grown up in that environment it's most likely for the kid to become like them. I can give an example with myself - I was born in a country where 88% of the population is Christian; my parents are Christian; my relatives and friends are Christian; I celebrate Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter, so basically Christianity has been surrounding me during my whole life so far and I could say in a way that shaped my lifestyle and my way of accepting the world. And that has very much to do with me being born exactly here in this society. I truly believe that if I was born for example in a Muslim country with everyone around me being Muslim, now I would be Muslim too. Now no one will stop me from converting to any other religion if I feel better with it. But very few people will do that because when they grow up their way of thinking is already shaped by many factors and mostly by the society in which they have lived during all their life up to that point. So I guess if someone chooses to change their religion it will be either because something really disappointed them in their faith or because they are naturally interested in investigating different nations' lifestyle, cultures, customs and religions,so having got acquainted with the principles of a different religion they might like it more.Or this might be a result of some circumstances like moving to a foreign country where the religion is different,so you have to get acquainted to it whether you want it or not and get to like it subsequently... But otherwise I doubt someone would change the religion which was given to him from birth. Anyway I am not against choosing your religion after you have researched about all the religions and then making your choice...what I'm trying to say is that very few people will have the nerves or time or wish to do that nowadays.

People are born into a certain culture and the basic religion of that culture. But there are many people who decide for themselves what beliefs they are going to hold after they become adults. This is probably much more common than you realize. There is no law that says a person must remain in the religion he was born into.

When a person is born he is totally unaware of worldly things. As the time passes and is grown he follows the path his ancestors show him. When he becomes an adult he is free to get converted to any religion if he wishes to. Nowadays people are getting converted in masses. Only problem is the society in which we are living is a bit backward and finds it difficult to bear.

You yourself has answered it. People are known Hindu, Muslim.... just because no one's dad ever gave his son the right to choose his religion. He is supposed to carry forward everything including the faith and the religion practised by his father.

Actually, everyone is born an Atheist (no belief in any god or religion). People like to say that they were always (for example) Christian because it makes them feel good. I agree that people shouldn't be so apt just to claim they are whatever religion their family is and should study other religions.

Religions were created as per the faiths of certain people. All roads lead to Rome, but travellers select different routes and various modes to travel. One faith suited to certain people may not relished by another group of people. So Religions were established to suit to the wave length of the people depending upon the environment,life-style,habits and beliefs of the public. It's main motto is to drive the people to the god , whatever the route they choose.Which-ever Religion masses adapt, they are called by their Religion.

Since they do become adults eventually they obviously do choose to stay in the religion of their parents. However not everyone does.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I didn't fit any religious labels until I was out of school. I chose to go to church. No one made me, but I do agree with you that people will be more fruitful in their faith if they truly believe, and are not just repeating what they have been told.

if we were never tought religon as children we would never belive in it as adults. if born without any religious influence it becomes very easy to see the flaws in it. i think we all would rather be the leader for ourselves, then the sheep lead by a shepard.
