I am wanting to invite a girl I have went out with a few times over to my house for dinner. What is something I can cook that isn't too complicated, yet good. I cook stuff like tacos, burgers, spaghetti, chicken, and lasagna all the time so I am not totally ignorant, just want to make something good for her. Also do you think this is a good idea? I mean what would you say if a guy you liked and had went out with a few times invited you over for dinner?

I think it's an excellent idea! Find out what she likes...what her favorite food is, and then make that dish.

How about something like this: Wine chilling on the side, candlelight and roses at the table, a nice salad, spaghetti dinner, and strawberries dipped in chocolate for dessert. It's not about what you cook for her. It's about the mood you set. This shows a softer, gentler side, one who is willing to pamper a woman once in a while!

Good luck and have fun!

I think it's a great idea. I also think that your time frame is perfect this is about the time that you introduce hanging out at your place with a nice dinner. I would definitely go!

As for the dinner the lasagna sounds great... it's something you already know how to make so there is less risk involved and it's a fancier than just spaghetti. I hope that you guys have a good time!

you sound right on track....you can cook. The taco idea is good. You know how to do it and you can get her involved as part of the date ( ask her to cut the lettuce or shred cheese while you 'slave' over the stove and cook the meat ) - another really good and impressive, easy meal is roasted chicken. Check online for easy recipes. The whole chicken on a simple platter garnished with some greens and served with a nice rice pilaf and crisp white wine is always a winner - this meal will also show her that you can make a simple meal romantic. The most simple of meals are always the most romantic - it's the fact that you spent some time preparing for her that is important. Good Luck.

Sounds like she's really special to you. Inviting her to dinner will make her realize that too.

I would keep it light. Like grilled salmon, Couscous, and steamed asparagus. Light white wine like a pino grigio if she drinks. Something that both of you can eat and still have a real good conversation after wards instead of a heavier meal like lasagna. If she's not into seafood, then replace the grilled salmon for grilled chicken breast.

I would be really excited if a guy I'm dating a few times invites me over for a nice dinner. Also, surprise her with a light desert like sorbet that you can purchase from your grocery store and a great rented movie video.

The Lasagna and a salad sounds good. Or a maybe some parmesan chicken and a salad.

I think any kind of pasta and a salad makes a romantic dinner.

I think it's a wonderful idea!!! Forget the tacos or spaghetti tho; too messy. Chicken or lasagna would be perfect.

For the record, I'm available for dinner Saturday night. lol j/k Girls love it. I married the last guy who cooked dinner as well. You've gotten great advise already on dinner. I just want to add one thing. If all goes well and the dinner is a success, don't forget to have breakfast as a back up plan. ;) But don't mention you have anything planned. Just have in case you need it. He made me breakfast in bed, too. 'Course, he hasn't done it since..... Huh. LOL

I'd love a good lasagna and apple pie! :-D Do what you KNOW and cook what you're comfortable with. It'll come out much better that way.

Any woman who doesn't appreciate the effort you put into anything (even a peanut butter and jelly!) isn't worth your trouble!

That sounds like a very nice idea!
Anthing like chicken would be nice with a side of steamed vegetables and rice... or pasta with a nice fresh garden salad and Garlic bread (if you dont plan to kiss ;-) )
Im a mom and I know that is fast, easy and tasty!
Have fun and enjoy each other's company!

When my son called me up at the summer cottage, many years ago, wanting to know how to cook chicken, I knew this was serious! he had never cooked in his life.

His girlfriend (now my daughter-in-law) told me later how impressed she was! He baked chicken breasts, potatoes, veggies, and served it with every piece of china, silver and linen in the house! And with my lit pair of candelabra on the diningroom table.

Thanks to this great first impression, I have 2 grandsons now. lol

Enjoy your meal, you sound like a great guy!
