This question comes up a lot on Answers. "How can I dump someone without hurting their feelings?"
It's impossible to dump someone without hurting their feelings. Unless you lie, you're going to be breaking up with them. They're going to be hurt but that's natural; rejection hurts. Lying to them is WAY worse than telling them the truth ever is.
Just come out with it with something like "It's just not working out anymore". Emphasize that respect him so you don't want to lie to him at all.
Expect him to be hurt. There's nothing that you can do about this. Just feel good because you're not going to lie to him.
Don't use the "friends" line. Just break up with him and later on, in a few months, make contact with him in a "friend" way.

Be honest, tell him that you don't think you are very compatible. He may not want to hear it but being incompatible is a very viable reason to get out of a relationship.
Its difficult, but better now than when you don't even want to talk to the guy anymore.

Be careful about getting out of one relationship because the grass seems greener on the other side, more often than not this is NOT the case.

Whatever you do don't tell him that you want to be alone for a while if you don't. Many girls use this one, its easy and its usually a bunch of junk. If you hope to remain friends honesty is the only way.

Hurt is going to happen, but he will appreciate your honesty if you tell him what you have said here, especially over the distance thing. As years have gone by for me and any of my former girlfriends I have run across, it's always the ones who were honest with me who got my respect then and still today, and we are all still civil years later. The breakups without honesty end up looked upon later as resentful learning experiences.

Just be honest and move on, don't drag it out.

Well .. you will anyway hurt him ! SO just do it now and the pain will be less rather than prolonging it and making life difficult for both of u.

He will have enough time to move on and so will u.

Meet him in person and do the breakup, give him some respect ( after he is ur bf ! and soon to be ex )

Well, if you REALLY want to be friends with him, you have to be honest and tell him just that. To make something up would be disrespectful. Just tell him that you jumped in too quickly and now you're realizing that it's not working the way you hoped it would.

Honestly, lie to him if you really don't want to hurt his feelings. Tell him you're going to be a nun or that you like women, whatever. You are more afraid of how bad you will feel vs how bad he will feel. Pity is a weak form of vanity.

Tell him its just not working out for you and you have found someone else, guys would rather hear honesty than any other sugar coated load of crap honestly. Just make it swift and to the point and walk away.

listen long distance doesn't really work. and besides if you dont break up with him you really only hurt yourself, you deserve a guy you like not a guy you feel like you have to be with cause he is nice leave him and be happy with this funny guy you met

you'll hurt the first guy after realizing that the second guy has a better sense of humor. You will hurt the second guy after you you find out that the third guy has a better look. you'll hurt the third guy...
