for those who buy extentions... do you get the feeling that some packages that say "100% human hair" is really horse hair?

If you only paid 10 bucks or so for you can bet them that it is not human hair even if the pack says so. It's probably not horse hair but if you got it cheap it isn't human hair either.

If it is labeled 100% human hair then it has to be harvested only from humans. If you buy lessor quality hair then it will not take handling very well at all. All hair is treated to give it silky texture and shine. The cortex is sealed and of course it is disinfected. When you wash your extensions use only cool water and high quality shampoos and conditioners. I use Revlon "Solve" because I work where there is cigarette smoke and that shampoo takes out the smell. Then I treat the extensions with Revlon "So Soft Heavy Cream" for at least 10 minutes before I rinse them. Then I coat them with a thin application of Bio-Silk serum. I comb with a wide tooth comb and allow to air dry. I am able to straighter or curl my extensions with low heat after they dry completely. I know that seems like a lot of work but DANG those are expensive!!

Hope this helps. BTW I buy the $30 hair from "Sally Beauty Supply" not the $300 hair that is on the net. I use the clip in and buy new hair after about 3 months.

I think that they could get into a lot of trouble for trying to pass off non-human hair for human hair. What if someone is allergic? That could be grounds for a lawsuit. I think that if it says human hair, then it's human hair.

No. Thee are laws regarding the selling and labelling of hair
pieces, extensions, etc. If it says "human hair" then it is.
But cheaper pieces are made of coarser hair, the more
expensive pieces use a finer hair. Its just a matter of you
get what you pay for.
