The problem Christian have with the Da Vinci Code is not about Mary Magdalene, but the fact that JESUS DID NOT SIN.
Mary Magdalene was a sinner, just as we all are. The only man that has never sinned was Jesus. The Da Vinci code suggests a sinful relationship between the two.
The Da Vinci Code is a fictional story, not to be taken as truth.

St. Mary Magdalene was a very beautiful and proud woman. However, after she met Jesus, she felt regret about the way she lived her life. She became very good friends with Jesus, and she often wiped his feet and anointed him with perfume. Some people were angered by this action. People were surprised that Jesus would want to be around such a sinner like Saint Mary. They were extra shocked by the fact the he was letting her touch Him.
Jesus could see right into her heart and would tell people that her sins were forgiven. He said this because many loved her. He was very happy that St. Mary had such a deep faith in Him. St. Mary, along with some other women, would serve Jesus and His Apostles. She had such a deep faith and wanted to live a better life.
When it came time for Jesus to be crucified, St. Mary could only think of Him and His suffering. She stood by at the bottom of the cross when Jesus was crucified. After Jesus’s Body went to the tomb, she stood by the tomb keeping watch.
On Easter Sunday morning, St. Mary went into the tomb to anoint His Body with spices. She discovered that Jesus was not in the tomb. She began to cry because she thought someone took Him. She then saw a gardener and asked him if he knew where Jesus’s Body was. St. Mary mistakenly thought the man was a gardener, but He was really Jesus. He exclaimed her name and they were joyous. Jesus rose from the dead and chose to show Himself first to Saint Mary Magdalene – a sinner.
Saint Mary is the Patron’s Saint of women; sexual temptation, Italy, hairdressers, reformed prostitutes, and converts.
In conclusion - Sinner who became a Saint

Contrary to popular opinion, Mary Magdalene has always been regarded as a saint. Only in a few Medieval European Churches was she associated with the woman taken in adultery. And that association had less to do with the relationship between Mary and Jesus and more with the tendency for Medieval theologians to connect all of the characters mentioned in the Bible. The fact that she might have been the consort of Jesus didn't bother them nearly as much as the fact that there were unnamed women in the gospels.

The Da Vinci code does not reflect the ideology of any Christian sect that I have ever heard of. It is mythological and not based on religious principle, the Bible or scientific analysis. As for Mary Magdalene, she was a disciple of Jesus, important enough to have moved the boulder after he died and apparently, she saw him rise.

I think the movie kind of distorts the fact but The Gospel of Mary is a worthwhile book to read. The stuff about her being a prostitute was made up by the pope and recanted later. there is no mention of that anywhere in the New Testament. If you get a chance also check out The Essene Gospel of Peace. It will blow your mind away!
