Last night my best friend sent me a big shocker, he told me that over Christmas, he realized that I was someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. We've considered dating on several occasions but the timing has never been right. He got out of a major relationship about a 2 months ago, and right now we agreed its best for us to both be single. But how do you react to such an emotional, and weighty confession? He told me a lot of the reason he can't allow himself to be in a relationship with me is because he knows that if he starts it with me, it is never going to end. Honestly, I can see it happening too. But I have no clue what sort of reaction to give. Obviously, we wouldn't be running to the altar anytime in the near future. It was like last night was somehow some form of confirmation, that hey, one day we're going to go get married...Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

Well.... what he say's may be true...however.. you mentioned he just got out of a major relationship just 2 months ago, I'd be careful with that situation, he may just need someone right now to fill in what he just lost. But if he's a great guy, give it a few more months, and if he still feels the same, go for it.

I agree with Waythere. You need to find out if he's serious or not. This could affect any future relationships you both may have. He maybe just feeling the separation blues of his last relationship and shifted his feelings onto you at that time. Have a good heart-to-heart with him and REALLY see where you two stand. If you don't want to jeopardize the friendship, then don't take it further but if you do than you both need to be honest with each other.

first you go "holy crap!" then you go "where the hell is the ring?" (as a joke, try to maintain some humor) then ask to think about it, its a very big questin. if you feel the same way tell him, if not move away and dont tell him you address. naw jk, if you can really see being together then tell him! dont let it get away! you'll regret it for the rest of your life. maybe not today, myabe not tomarrow, but soon and for the rest of your life. and if it doesnt work out well, it is better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all. i wish i was as good at giving advice to myself as i am to others! lol, jk. GOOD LUCK!

I was asked that way once to. Because I didn't answer,
and thought he was joking, he took it as a no.
I was in shock. :-O
Date him, and see how it goes.
