Why would a god of love torture for eternity someone who committed wrongdoing for at most 70 or 80 years? Would a human parent sever the arm off his child for hitting the neighbor? That would be grossly wrong. Obviously, if it exists, God set up Hell and installed the devil there, or else the 'souls' of dead people wouldn't go there. If Hell wasn't part of God's plan, He wouldn't allow 'souls' to be taken that way. How would you explain this, if this is what you really believe? And don't give me any of that "God works in mysterious ways" crap. Humans have working brains and logical ability. God wouldn't do something that even imperfect humans would consider wicked.

I'm a Christian and there is definitely - NO "HELL" !!! Adam and Eve would be there IF there was, for sure. "Hell" is a mistranslation in the Bible of both, Hebrew and Greek original texts for a "hole" or a "grave" ... not a everlasting fire place for "lost souls" !!! God is in the saving business !!!

Where do you draw the line though? I think most people would agree that if there is a hell, then someone like Stalin or Hitler would belong there for killing tens of millions of innocent people. But then what about lesser dictators who only killed a couple mil? Then keep winding down till you get to the serial killer or mass murderer. What's the limit? Who rings the bell..."ding ding ding, you just killed your tenth person and now you get hell."

To set a standard of just how bad something has to be to deserve hell is a slippery slope. Also, this overlooks that fact that you are rejecting God. You are rejecting the sacrifice of God on the cross which is infinitely worse than anything else one can do.

Most people's idea of "hell" is something like a volcanic crater, I suppose, but that is inconsistent with the loving God we believe in. He has no inclination or reason to torture anyone for all eternity: "hell" is the way your own conscience treats you, when you die and realize you haven't lived the way you should have. God has given us the freedom to do whatever we want, which includes disobeying Him. We can choose our actions, we just have to accept the consequences. Naturally, being a loving God, He wants us to all have the option to hear and keep His commandments. If we don't get a chance to learn His gospel while on Earth, we'll hear it in the next life. But, eventually, we'll all need to decide whether to disobey and make ourselves unfit to live with Him again, or to repent and obey Him.

I would not cut my child's arm off... if she hit a neighbor she can apologize and work for that neighbor doing house or lawn work unless the neighbor wants to take her to court then she must go to court. God would never tell me to injure my child and if something was telling me to harm my child then I know it's not the voice of God and I would seek medical help.
Hell was not a part of his plan... satan betrayed him and his betrayel led to hell and the evil and imperfections on this earth. God has a better place that is perfect and no part of evil will be allowed... he'll see in people's hearts if they belong with him or should be left behind.

God is the ultimate judge. Those who are saved - born again, will spend eternity in heaven. Those who reject God and do not follow Him will be sent to hell - pure and simple. God is not only a God of love, but is also a God of wrath as well.

Romans 2:5,6 - But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God: 6 - who will render to every man according to his deeds:

Revelation 7:16, 17 - And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 - For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Isaiah 13:9 - Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

Deuteronomy 32:4 - He is the Rock, his work is perfect: gfor all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Your answers explain it all. God is a very Holy God. He wants those who have accepted Jesus and want to follow his ways. We are all sinners and none of us deserves to go to Heaven, that is why Jesus died for us. God does not want us in hell. He even says that hell was not made for man but for satan and his angels. It is man who puts himself in hell. If you were to go to a judge after committing a big crime and ask the judge if he would just let it go this one time, what do you think the judge would say? Of course you would get punishment, prison time or a big fine. Now what if one person stood up and said, I have one million dollars and I want to pay for this persons fine and let him/her go. How would you feel about that person? You would be so grateful. Well, this is what Jesus did for us. By the way, there is nothing mysterious about God. He is for real and gives blessings as they are earned.

Well God created the Devil right? probably because God is so good that he needed somebody truly evil, so god could be more badass and have more fun and show that he is not evil. Probably to make us humans realize that God is good. High five God. Thanks for the challeges with the blessings in deguise.

Wow, I've been watching wayyyy to much Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

God is a God of love, but He is also a just God. He sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins; He was our sacrifice. The only way to avoid going to hell is to accept Christ. When you are given that opportunity TAKE IT! That is essentially your "ticket" to heaven. It only takes a short, one time prayer of forgiveness and acknowledgement of your sins. If you are given that chance and choose not to accept Christ, you are denying the gift that God gave you, and in turn, choosing hell.

You atheists and your "obvious" premises, sheesh! There's just one thing wrong with your premises, they're bullsh*t. We creatures can't say what our Creator "would" do, "should" do, or "could" do. Talking like that is a total waste of time.
Speaking of which, this question has been asked and answered at least a million times. Did you think you had an original thought? Sorry to burst your bubble.

The laws of nature (God) are meant for welfare. The scriptures describe these laws and forewarn us about breaking them.

God does love us and wants us to come back to Him. All these punishments are for refroming us. Even the most loving parent reprimands his kids - not because he or she wants to punish them. It is to make them understand their responsiblities.

The idea of eternal hell is to only impress the long duration. There is nothing like eternal hell. The time scale of hell itself is different.
