weight lifting wont do much for your ability to use up calories, dance, swim, ride a bike, floor exercise isnt going to give you enough exercise, but if you do some of that along with riding a stationary bike or swimming, then you should be doing ok.

diabetics can do the same physical activites every one else does. You just have to be sure to eat properly before, check your sugars during, and make sure you have sugar/glucagon and a protien to follow just incase.
My hubby has type 1 diabetes. he has had it for 12 years now. He went snow boarding today and used to sketeboard ALL day EVERY day.

Any form of exercises will do, e.g. bending, stretching, etc. as long as it stimulates the cardiovascular system. Calories will burn as long as there is movement of the body. Also, if you are a retiree, go back to work and just do not be a couch potato.

There's nothing wrong with weightlifting, but you should be doing some sort of cardiovascular exercise. I think starrwoode has given you excellent suggestions.

strength training = work out with weights; you can pace it easily and accommodate most restrictions.
