My Cat Mookie, is licking himself bald on his back legs and now his belly. I have had him to two different Doc's, and one gave him pills and one gave him a shot, neither worked. He was tested for allergies and so far nothing, I bought him a hood collar and this seems to work Only, he can't wear this the rest of his life. Has anyone run into this problem?

That is a stress related behavior... a mental problem that can be fixed. See new vets if possible. You could try the Bitter Apple stuff. It won't kill him, but I would think the right doc could treat him. Good luck... poor liitle fella.

Anybody done bloodwork yet? This is often chalked up to a "behavior problem", but it's usually got some sort of underlying cause-allergies or a systemic disease of some sort. It can be frustrating for you and the vet to figure out what's causing this, not to mention for Mookie too. Cats are notorius for hiding what's wrong with them. You need to find a doc or clinic that specializes in cats.

My family and I had a cat which did this all over, and had bald patches all over its body. he was so sweet, but had scabs and bald spots all over, so no one wanted to touch him.
My family had him get shots, but they did little for his problem. I took him to one vet who gave him a kind of hormone pill, and that was like a miracle. His hair grew back and he was just fine.
It's a weird pill, unexpected for such a condition, but ask your vet about a hormone pill for hair loss in cats that can't control themselves.
Those shots are terrible, btw. They do nothing and are expensive.

My cat started to do that and I put triple antibiotic on it and then went to a pet store and bought bitter end and sprayed it on her. Have you given him a bath? Ask a groomer about a special shampoo that might help also. It could be an allergy to its food also. Try a one source protein.

Might just be dry itchy skin due to the weather. There are some natural oils you can add to their food, which then goes to their skin. My dog has the same problem during certain times of the year.
