If you worked as an employee and had social security/medicare taxes withheld from your paycheck, you should get a W-2 in the mail - in that case, you do NOT have to file if that's your only income. If any federal income tax was withheld though, you should file and it will be refunded to you. Depending on your age, you might also be eligible for the Earned Income Credit - you can't get that if you're a dependent of anyone, or if you're under age 25 and don't have a dependent child.

If you were considered self-employed, then social security and medicare would not have been deducted from your checks, you'll get a 1099 instead of a W-2, and you will have to file a tax return and pay self-employment taxes even though you won't owe any income tax.

The above is for federal taxes. State taxes depend on the state where you worked and the state where you live, so without knowing what states those are, nobody can give you an answer about state taxes.

I don't know what the maximum you can make and not file is but you can check it at www.irs.gov. You will probably get something back so you may want to file. You pay state tax and sometimes city and county tax in the area where you worked. You will have to check with that state to find out if you have to file.

Yes. You don't have to file if you made less than $1,000. You will file federal taxes and taxes for the state you earned the money in. If you live in California you may have to file California state tax forms as well, even though you didn't make money there.

you have to file if you make more than 400$ according to the feds some states set it a little higher but not much so you will need to file in the state or states you worked in as well even if its not the one you live in

if You made less than 3,300 then you do not have to file. You can if you want though. If you do you are better off doing them yourself since most tax preperation fees may eat up your refund.
