When she isn't surrounded by friends, come up to her and say hi. Just talk to her. Let her talk about herself but every two questions you ask her, tell her something about yourself (if possible make it a "me too" comment, she'll think you both have a lot in common). EX.
YOU: Hi Jessica.
Her. Hi John.
YOU: I heard you went to can coon. How was it?
Her: It was okay. It was a beautiful place but a bit boring.
YOU: why?
Her: Because we just walked around ruins and some beaches but that was it.
You: I know how you feel. I went on a trip to Hawaii and it was okay visiting the volcano but we didn't even go to the beaches.
......well, that's kinda it.
Look in her eyes for a bit but don't stare her down.

Start a conversation with her and make sure you can keep a conversation going with her. Look her in the eyes when you talk to her, stand up straight, and get to know her a little. If it seems like she was interested in what you were saying, she would be interested in going on a date with you...or i would at least. Also, make sure she doesn't have a bf.

If you don't really want a go streight..try to find something that both of you like to do..for ex. if you like reading, tell her to go to the library to check some books, or something that she may be interested on doing. But not very personal. See how she answers....good luck!

Start a "hey" when you walk past each other. Then "hey how you", slowly build up on your conversations. Then one day, ask her out to coffee. If she accepts- great! If she doesn't- move on, don't stalk her and find someone else.

its hard sometimes to grow balls. you just have to talk to her. they like hearing compliments. like oh i love those shoes. your hair looks great. you look so tasty in those pants. seriously just go up and say hi. they usally take it from there. then good luck shutting them up.
