If you used semi permanent it will slowly fade out over 6-8 weeks if it it permanent I suggest that you trim hair once a month and have someone streak through a middle color between your natural and the tinted color and slowly bring your color back over 6 months time or you take the chance of breakage, from overlap of tint and bleach and if that doesn't happen the least damage would be for your hair to feel like straw until all the virgin hair has grown out.

I have the same deal with my hair. The best you can do is to keep your haircolor all colored a color closest to your natural haircolor and you will have to grow it all out since haircolor can't really be taken out completely. Just let it grow with a natural hue from even a drugstore colorant like Loreal. I did this after being every haircolor and I was happy with the results.
Remember to condition often and deep condition once a week with a product like Pantene's jar of restorative conditioner it makes all the difference in the world on the hair itself.
Good luck to you

It takes approx. 1 month to grow 1 inch of hair, so if you want your natural hair color, and you want it to be about 3 inches long, then it will take about 3 months. But permanent hair color treatments do not fade.

What I did was:
went to my hairdresser. told her i wanted my hair to go back to its natural color [i'm 1/2 asian and it was dyed / highlighted a light copper/medium and dark brown color at the time] ......but didn't want to cut too much off [it was shoulder length at the time]...
so she dyed and highlighted it "just enough" to look natural so i didn't have to keep going back for highlights... mainly trims... the dark colors seem to grab to the hair better and not fade like browns and reds; but that could be because that's how the texture of my hair is....
if you have a good stylist this should not be a problem for you !

If you used permanent hair color then you either have to color it to the same color as your hair color was before or just keep trimming your hair as it grows. I hear that henna results in natural colors but I've never tried it.

*haha* sorry to tell you this not what you want to hear Not gonna happen Never gonna happen it will not magically fade to your natrual color unless you chop it all off til you only ahve the one inch roots showing- Luckly theres one more thing you can do Make one last trip to the salon ask them to match your hair color with your natraul roots comming in, and they can you wont have to worry with it anymore, until you decide to change it again! lol Pleasefor petes sake DO not use the over the counter JUNK you will end up making a BIG FAT mess of your hair- it will take a professional to mix a special blend for you to match your natraul color. Hope this helps-

i don't think you can get your original hair color back once you dyed it unless you cut it. OR you can get temp hair dyes which might not stay that long.

Why not just dye it to your natural color (or close enough) and forget about it?

i dont think it ever comes off completely... u should consider either dying it black or waiting for your natural hair to grow back fully.. if you cant wait that long, use the former suggestion
