If he is used to going in THAT house, it will be a real challenge to get him to change at this late date. However, he may adapt easier to litterbox training.
But, if he is in a new home, then it will be just as training a little puppy. Take him for long walks, UNTIL he goes, and praise him for doing it outside..Never scold him for doing it indoors, as it will make the progress much slower..

This is a good site for step by step instructions for litter box training, but please forget that you read the part about yelling..> http://www.kturby.com/litter/litter.htm

most people say use a cage.... dogs will not go in there bed area..... after this part works you can expand the area and expand again until they no longer go in the house.... i have an 8 month old who was potty trained the first two weeks i had her and then the weather got cold and things went bad from there .... i staked her outside for a few weeks and then paid close attention to her cues.... she is doing much better and only goes when it is an emergency.

First off to the peanut gallery keeping dogs outside only is wrong....For me I have had many dogs and I know one thing it takes time. Don't get discouraged but, I know for a fact that dog treats and encouragement just like children help a dog to learn to go outside start by letting them out and keep them on a leash for 30 minutes then give them a treat if they went....then 20 then 10 and then 5 until they like to go outside I hope this helps works for me everytime

Congrats! Your dog is already potty trained to use your bathroom. The problem is you want him to use the great big outside I suppose? Well thats quite easy if you have some time on your hands. Firstly , do not give him access to your bathroom, instead do take him to the spot you want him to relieve himself in. It entails you taking him out initially every two hours or so, specially when he wakes from his sleep. You have to become an early riser and take him outdoors in the morning.
