People have been confusing me .. someone says its the right and someone says its the left.. and which finger's the one? .. is it different for men and women?

Left hand; finger next to pinky

depends on a country. In US, both engagement and wedding ring are on the left hand, fourth finger (next to pinky). Wedding band goes close to the root of the finger, and the engagement ring goes outside, towards the nail.
In some other countries, the rings are worn on a right hand.

Same finger for male and female. Left hand second last finger, also called your ring finger. Right hand second last finger (also called ring finger) is for a friendship ring either from a friend, family member, or boyfriend, some people evern wear their 18th or 21st there also.
