I would say 99% of the voters. The pity in our country is most of the voting is done by non educated people. People who are educated take a holiday on election day...they don't vote and the ones who vote just vote for the sake of it...no one dose any research. The other major thing in cities is, eventhough the people are samrt and educated they still get driven by the false promises and religion. religion in my opinion dose not run a country but a person dose... one has to see a good candidate who is educated, trained and has a vision rather then someone who wants to build a mandir... today in the times of global economy our focus should be on grwoth, education and infrastructure and becoming a first world country... i applaud your question...one should think about the person rather then party, religion or promises while voting... we have to build a great nation

YES the statement is true. In general people are busy in doing their own business whether it is employment, agriculture or any bread earning activity. The poor, the victims of poverty try for their basic survival and the other to get status in the society. The few selecte who reach the level of personality where nothing bothers them. Once you are surrounded by the group of people who want ot live at the cost of others will certainly search for the easy root that is politics. The people who are the victims of poverty can sell their vote cheaply with out understanding its consequences. The money spent by the people to come into the political platform can be diverted towards development probably we neednot ask others to give loan. The 70% of the people living in the rural areas are still lives under the control of socalled law - breakers. As long the present system of voting and assuming the people to play several tricks for getting the vote bank, the highly educated people need to work under the control of boss who donot know the reality. Now the trend is changing and peopl have realised the fact of selecting the right candidate for the right post. still we need to do a lot in this direction to change the whole system.

Because the knowledgeable people in India generally do not vote. They just learn how to deal with the powers that be.
Each has his own take on this, but unless you are in some sort of direct alliance or dalliance with them , it is common knowledge that your struggles & successes will carry on irrespective of AND in-spite of which candidate from the current political system wins the race !
If at all you do vote you will probably be casting "Negative Votes" or the "kick-out" ie against the incumbent, - rather than actively participating in the choice of an alternative.

Name the Republicans please? There already are background checks for gun purchases from any licensed dealer. There has been for years so I have no idea why it matters at the moment. Yet when the background checks became mandatory, over 60% of the denied purchases were due to just typos or clerical errors. Also the Clinton Justice department refused to prosecute convicted felons that attempted to purchase guns going through the system. What good did it do? How many of those who intended to buy the gun for criminal purposes do you suppose simply gave up their life of crime and became a productive citizen just because they couldn't legally buy a gun? I suspect the answer is none of them. I don't have a problem with background checks, but there is absolutely no evidence that it has had any positive impact on crime. So why do it other to to make it more of a hassle for the law abiding gun owner, which is the only thing that most so called gun control laws do.

For the same reason that "Knowledgeable people vote for those who are corrupted or who have criminal background" in the United States. Just go along with the "popular" crowd. The way many Democrats get people to vote for them is by making the opponents out to be horrible people. It has nothing to do with facts.

In my view people with at least graduation/post graduation are knowledgeable. If we put a precondition that only these people should participate in voting, then I am afraid the people with criminal background will get zilch. Actually from my experience the people who fall under this category are reluctant to participate in voting. They think it is a waste of exercise anyway as there is enough rigging and as well as large number of people from disadvantaged/illiterate sections vote without thinking a second in exchange for money or liquor.

Corrupted Peoples are not always behave corruptly in broad time space
Mr. A corrupts in national Politics and snatches piece of cace from South India and shares that in Bihar, wins game in Bihar, nothing critical regarding this.
And main thing is that the way our democracy is running, there is no option for the knowledge and dull to choose otherwise.
There should be an issue based voting system not ruling party based voting system Issue based Voting will bring us towards golden age
Thanks and Regards

My view is that People are frustrated as they feel that Politics is a place for people who cannot do anything better in life. Again it is a perception which is strengthened by the fact that you do not find significantly clean people in the politics. All this frustration leads to choice of playing musical chair. Infact people are just taking it as just a formality and they feel that irrespective of anyone who heads the government, they can have their way by using influencing and corrupt means to get their things done. Selfish thought process of thinking about personal self vs country's overall benefit is the bane of our society. None of us want to make an effort to cleanse our corrupt and criminal political system.
