I have migraine, I went to one doctor and told me that. But when I went to another doctor she told me its not migraine, Im just having headaches because of muscle tension at my upper back and shoulders. Then, I went to another doctor again and told me Im anemic. But it seems that I hate noise, when I hear annoying sounds, its when my headache starts. One doctor told me not to eat chocolates and other dairy products, which I like most. The other doctor told me I can still eat those stuff so I'll get immuned by these food, and later on will be ok..These doctors are giving me more headaches. Will I just stop asking doctors then?

A migraine headache has the feeling of an intense throbbing or dull aching pain on one OR both sides of your head. Symptoms also may include nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, tiredness, stiff neck...and more (there is a list at the familydoctor.org site) The migraine can last from 4hours to three days.

Many times people who het migraines get aura first: flashing lights, colors or loss of vision, before the onset of the migraine.

Some people get optical migraines- they see floating spots while the migraine is occurring

-a sinus headache is a dull, stuffy, pain that hurts in the general area of your sinuses (between the eyes, temples, under the eyes above the cheeks)

-cluster headaches (pain arrives with little, if any, warning and is usually on one side of the head. A tearing or bloodshot eye and a runny nose on the side of the headache may also accompany the pain)

Since you say that noises trigger your headaches, I would assume that you are right- it is a migraine, but you might want to evaluate the symptoms of the headache and see if you have the correct type anyway.

Accorind to familydoctor.org, there are many things that cause migraines:
Strong or unusual odors, bright lights or loud noises
Changes in weather or altitude
Being tired, stressed or depressed or the let-down after a stressful event
Changes in sleeping patterns or sleeping time
Certain foods (see the list below), especially those that contain tyramine, sodium nitrate or phenylalanine
Missing meals or fasting
Menstrual periods, birth control pills or hormones
Intense physical activity, including sexual activity

The site also includes a long list of foods that might cause the migraines. But, like the foods your doctor told you, they MIGHT cause them. The only way to find out is to keep a record of what you have eaten and when you have had the migraine. If you find that each time you eat a certain type of food, that you get a migraine , then you can probably assume that it is a trigger food.

Attached are some really good websites with information on headaches. Good luck!

I am sure if you ask enough drs. they will tell you it is sinuse some one else will say eyes soooo.... try to experiement yourself and find out. keep track of your migraines by jotting down in a diary what you do eat say come in contact with everyday and when you get a migraine you can look at the week even one to two days previous and see what is common right before each attack. It will take a while but soon you will see a pattern of "I do this or eat this and the next day migraine" and you will know. I did this and it didn't take me long to figure out that within 2 days to a week before my period, I always have migraine no matter what I eat, do, smell, or come in contact with so I have learned to distinquish between what is going to be a migraine and what is going to be a headache and take the precaustions so It will be bearable

Migrains are brought on by so many things. Stress, hormones, trauma, neurological abnormalities. If you havent done so demand a head CT from your doctor. A doctor who told you to ingest caffeine to ease the migraine needs to lose his cert. Caffiene is also a cause for migraines...withdrawal from caffiene such as diet pills, chocolate and coffee. You need a migraine medication such as immitrex, or zomig. OTC pain relievers might help take the edge off but as soon as you stop taking them you will only get the migraines again and worse in the same concept of withdrawal from caffiene. DEMAND a head CT and DEMAND to try a Rx migraine medication. Good Luck

I also suffer from migraines, they are a B&*#%&@d of a thing to have and are very debilitating. I take Imigran tablets, to me they are the best thing since sliced bread, if I feel a migraine coming on, down one goes. They also work for me during an attack. Having said this tho they might not be for you. (Are you on a community services card? Cos they aren't cheap otherwise.) A girl at work went off gluten and said that has worked for her. There are dietitians that would be able to suggest foods to leave etc. Ask your doctor which would be best for you.

You could check out web.md or http://www.about.com

Type "migraines" in their search boxes, and when you get to that page look for causes, symptoms and cures.

Some that I've heard are:
Stress
Fever
Illness
Food allergies
Eye problems

Hope you find something at one of the sites. It's really bad when different doctors give you all different answers--makes it hard for us to trust them. Feel better.

No one really knows for sure what causes migraines - they can only guess. I have the same problem though. Mine usually seem to happen when I'm extremely stressed.
