Well, I dont mean to burst your bubble but you probably should not even be peircing yourself if you are asking such a question. Im a professional also with tattooing, and numbing the skin can cause more problems than it can help. The pain isnt that bad, if you cant tolerate it enough to just go through with it, then id suggest not getting it done at all. Also, id suggest getting it done professionally, people seem to think its as easy as shoving a needle through... its not, and its dangerous... in fact, most counties when getting a peircing license/insurance consider it more along the lines of surgery, if done properly by someone who really knows what they are doing, its relatively safe, otherwise, i can share with you some stories that would make your skin crawl:( im guessing your just gonna do it anyhow, so my best advice would be (first cleaning it with half witch hazel(you can find that anywhere in the pharmacy section) its like alcohol sorta, and then ofcoarse alcohol, then just use an ice cube if you must... but be careful, if you use an icecube to numb it, you wont be feeling the nerve if you hit it and then your screwed... not to mention, when it thaws... its going to be ten times more painful than it would have been in the first place... if you can just suck it up and do it right. **** luck other wise!

Please don't pierce anything without properly sanitizing it. When you go to get a piercing they do not numb anything. One of the reasons is because the instruments they use are sharp enough to get the job done real quick. If you have to ask then I really don't think you are ready for a piercing. If you stick something that is dirty in your skin then you risk infection. Just because it looks clean doesn't mean that it it. I would say up some money and have it done right. I know that is not what you want to hear but you will thank me later. I am not a piercing expert but I have had them and I am nurse.

you do not..
I have had a few piercings done at professionl studios, and they do not numb the area..there are reasons for this..it has to do with the quality of the piercing...
PS.. the only way you are going to get shot of something to numb your skin is if there is a doctor there to prescribe it on the spot and a liscensed nurse to administer it with the doctors orders..and this will only happen at a doctors office/hospital..and Im positive they will not perform any body piercings there..LOL

Are you doing it your self? If so try ice. But when you go to a piercing shop they do not numb.

i would like to know how you get lidocaine in a beauty shop when lidocaine is a prescription drug and has a federal law attached to it that says it has to be prescribed by a physician (or similar -- dentist, vet)...
as a general rule, ice is used because most piercing parlors do not have physicians on staff to inject the anaesthesia...
however...they say that the pain is 1/2 the fun of the piercing
good luck
