There are so many new software available on the market, what are the must have right now. It doesn't have to be catagolize on what used, just what is a must have.

The must have nowadays relate to multimedia processing & editing. Whether photos, music or video.
The latest is video editing. Take movies on a camcorder & edit them professionally with easy to use software like Nero. Put them on DVD & hand them out to your family & friends.
