The problem with this attempt of cleaning your computer is that there are files copied into the Windows directory structure from other programs, and all these computer cleaning software cannot clean them out.
Also, entries into the registry accumulate and point to files not found on your computer, make the registry bigger than needs to be.

If you want to go this far, you might as well reformat the hard drive, and do a clean install. This will get rid of all spyware, virus and all the old stuff Uninstall programs left behind. You'll end up with a faster booting and running system.

Are you worried about losing data? Get an external hard drive...or better yet, buy another bigger faster hard drive to install XP on to, and then you can use your old drive as a second data drive. This way, there is no loss of data.

Probably the cleanest way would be to format and reinstall Windows fresh.

Uninstall Windows – Reinstall – Format Hard Drive

How do I reinstall and reformat Windows XP on my hard drive?
With Windows XP, you need to figure out which you have on your hard drive - either NTFS or FAT32. Click here to find that out. (Once you have established this go to step 2a or 2b.)

2a) If you have NTFS, you need to wipe the drive with a special technique. Click here to learn that.

2b) If you have FAT32, you need to wipe the drive with a special technique. Click here to learn that.

3) Next you need to reinstall Windows XP. Reboot your computer with the Windows XP setup CD in the CDROM and let it boot into the Windows Setup screen. Let it load all the drivers. Then choose option 1 and start the clean installation. When it is done, reboot the computer.
