I went out with this kid for 7 months and we've been on and off for four or five months since then. I don't want to get back together with him but since there is no one else and I start to think he's changed I end up back liking him and he'll just not call me for a week or two until he wants me back again. Right now I haven't talkt to him for a week or two and I'm fine when I'm not around him but when I see him its hard, even though we hardly acknowledge each other. I don't want to continue to let him be in control of when we are back togther and when we aren't and I just want to be finished with him once and for all. I think having a new boyfriend would help but maybe it wouldn't. I'm desperate.

You might want to explore this need you apparently have to attach yourself to a male.
Why do you feel that the only way you can free yourself from "Mr Merry-Go-Round" is to replace him with a substitute?

If you had a better relationship with yourself, then you wouldn't be so prone to try to find a boyfriend to fill whatever void you are presently feeling.

This can be very important for you, because it can affect your future, & make the difference between whether you marry "Mr Right", or "Mr Right Now".

Instead of looking for a change in this guy you've been on & off with, you could try to affect a change within yourself.
Start by putting this guy in the past permanently so you can move on to the next relationship.
You can't learn & grow if you stay stuck in the same place all the time.

Hope this helps.

get a new boyfriend to get over this jerk. You call him a kid, how old is he? When he wants to see you after a layoff, why does he want to see you? What's in it for him? Whatever it is, make sure he doesn't get any satisfaction. You say it is hard when you see him, how hard is it? You see, you must be clearer, so that we have all the pertinent information to make an informed judgment/.

Get out and do things with friends. Don't worry about finding someone right now...just get out and have fun, and someone will eventually appear (it seems like when you're having a good time/or happy men just appear out of the woodwork right and left).

You two are the only people on a desert isle or something? Sounds to me like you need SPACE, bust out of your old groove, or go back to your old haunts you enjoyed befoe you started going out. or try some new ones?

Well yea a new boyfriend will help, but when you see it will hurt for a while but you gotta remember that you love yourself more than you love him. You have to love yourself enough to not put yourself in a situation that you know will end up hurting you.
