Probrably so cause when a person sees into your eyes if they are paying attention they can see what you are feeling.

Well if you just gaze i'm afraid she'll think you're weird. I urge you to try smiling. Just relax and smile.
Be friendly - yes definitely do that. But no way you can appear friendly without a smile. Even if the intention is good but the delivery is bad - the result can be bad. So relax, smile, make small conversation by asking light questions about who she is and what she likes etc etc..

yeah probably though she could be somewhat of an idiot and think were were just looking at her in admiration and trying to be friendly.... but us girls are never quite so stupid... Good luck!
