I think it can. My daughter is 13 years old and she has Lupus. She is suffering from alot of joint pains since the whether had gotten colder. She is also losing some of her hair , which happens from time to time and then it thickens back..
I make sure she wears thermals under her clothes when she goes outside . I also make sure she wears her hat, scarf and gloves. She is (of course ) on meds. for the illness but I also give her Tylenol before she goes to school for the pain.
Yes, it usually flares when its cold outside for her.
Feel good and God bless.

People with lupus are sensitive to changes in barometric pressure. If the weather goes from hot to cold or wet to dry, you might be a bit achier. This will pass. The best climate for lupus patients is one with the fewest changes in the barometer.

I have Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis (the are both auto immune diseases with same symptoms, and I go to a Rheumy for both), and I am hurting like crazy right now.
My joints feel like they are going to explode. Hot baths, hot tub and Yoga are a few of the things I try to do in addition to meds.

In all honesty, I do not know. However, I would think that any extreme temperature change, like any extreme anything, could aggravate the condition. Extreme stress, smoking, drinking, poor eating habits, etc...all can make one more vulnerable to a wide array of diseases and disorders. I wish I could give you better advice than this, but I just honestly do not know for sure. Good luck and I hope you or your loved one gets feeling better soon.

i have heard that heat is what really makes it flare, but it could be that it's the humidity. (cold or hot)
