Parvo is the first thing that I can think of - however in some cases, I've heard that puppies sometimes have blood show up in poo when they have eaten chicken necks or something similar. For some reason, it does something to their intestines. Nothing too bad, but still needs to be treated by a vet. Good luck and let us know how you go!

There are several reasons that your dog might have bloody stool. Common Reasons: 1. Your dog might have cancer; 2. Your dog might have eaten something really sharp which is cutting him/her internally; 3. Your dog might have internal parasites; 4. Your dog might have a viral infection; 5. Your dog might have a small intestine problem; or 6. Your dog might be suffering from an anal sac infection. If your dog has bloody stool, rest assured that there are steps you can take to help your furry friend overcome this ailment. 1. You might want to look closely at the amount of blood because a few drops is ok; 2. You might want to stop feeding your dog bones; 3. You might want to be proactive and not allow your dog to sniff other’s poop; or 4. You might want to make sure that your dog is properly hydrated when you go on a hike or long walk. If none of the above remedies work then you should consult your vet to see what exactly might be causing the problem.

It could be anything to a lower GI bleed, to anal fissures, to maybe even doggy hemorhhoids... if dogs get hemorrhoids, that is. :)
What color is the blood?
If it is a bright red, then it's otherwise coming from the anus itself or the lower part of the intestine. If it is a dark blackish red, then it is coming from the upper intestine and/or stomach.
Make sure your dog remains hydrated. Pull on the skin on the back of her neck and release. If it takes 1 second or less to return back to normal, she is hydrated. If it takes longer or even stays in place, she is getting dydrated or severely dehydrated. Don't force feed her if she doesn't eat. Dogs can go a few days without food however they cannot go without water. Make sure she drinks. You may need to use a dropper and give her water that way if she refuses to drink.
And, like you said, get her to the vet ASAP! It may be nothing but better safe than sorry. Monitor her tonight and if she starts acting lethargic or refuses to drink, you may want to call the vet (even at 3 am) and tell him to come in for an emergency visit. If this happens, just call your vet's office. His answering service will have a prerecorded message giving you a number to call in case of an emergency.
Good luck to you and your chihuahua!

It's a good idea to take her to the Vet. Blood in the stool along with diarrhea could be so many different things from parasites to trying to pass something sharp or a dog disease. You are doing the right thing to take her to the Vet.

Thats pretty normal if she has the runs....make sure she stays hydrated. If her stools don't return to normal, seek medical attention. If they do in a couple days just make sure you see less blood so you know the capilaries are healing. If there is a lot, take her in.
Its quite common with human babies too, always freaks out new moms, but its usually nothing.
If your worried, put some in a zip lock bag and freeze it until you get to the vet.

Blood in stool is bad. Definately a vet asap. could be sign of an internal rupture/ organ failure/ etc. If she has diahrrea and blood- I would call an emergency vet tonight if at all possible and see if they recommend bringing her in.
You will probably need blood work done, and bring in a fresh sample of the poop in a baggie.

Hookworms can cause the dog to poo blood, but so can parvo. This is very serious, take him to the vet ASAP or you could loose your dog.

Could be coccidia, an intestinal parasite, easily treated with antibiotics, my pup is getting over it right now.
Bring a fecal sample to your vet so they can test and not have to guess.
