When you are in a coma, you are unable to feel anything, as you are in a suspended state. Your brain will still function, but at a much slower and lower rate than the average person can. My prayers are sent out to your uncle, for a quick healing.

I was once in a coma for a month following a head injury sustained in an automobile accident. Believe me, I don't remember feeling anything.

I was in a car accident when I was sixteen and I ended up in ICU in a coma for several days. What I remember is hearing people in the room and feeling like I could see them as well. I don't know if I actually saw anyone but I know I heard my family. Later a doctor told me that a lot of times the medication they have the patient on causes them to dream or hallucinate. So that's what I know. I am sorry about your uncle.

For me it was like feeling paralyzed..& being in sorta like a blackhole. Not at all like sleep. Sleep is where U dream. I wasn't in a dream I guess perhaps maybe my mind was in a black hole! I was aware of what state I was in and People arguing whether to euthise me or not. The doctors said there was only 22% chance of recovery. I heard people talking not just about me but about the others in the room! I was in a semi-private room! I'm sure glad I'm not paralyzed and was it lucky I came out of the coma or unlucky?

My dad was in a coma for, golly, I think about a month on life support, and he said he didn't experience or remember anything. Just as if you go to sleep.

I have heard that people who have come out of comas say they can hear the people in the room talking. This is why when you visit, say encouraging things and update him with pleasant news.

I think it is like being in a very deep sleep.
