Utter cream.... can be found at Walmart. Aveeno also works well. I used to wash dishes at work too, and after trying it, I never had cracked, stinging, knuckles again. Get one of those palm bottle openers also.

"corn huskers lotion" is one of the best (and inexpensive) lotions you can get for your hands. I have a lot of cooks in my family and that is what they use. You could also go to your doctor and they can give you a script for hydro-cortizone cream (which will work wonders). But you would have to constantly use the lotion or cream because your hands will still be in the water and that's more than likely what's causing the problems with your hands. So unless you wear gloves when you wash dishes it will be a vicious circle. Stay away from scented lotions too, the perfume in the lotions will only irritate your skin. Another thing you could do is put Vaseline/petroleum jelly on your hands (a really thick layer of it) before you go to bed it will help seal in the moisture. Just be careful though it could stain your bedding (but my grandfather swears by it) Hope this can help you or at least give you some ideas. But definitely try the corn huskers... you can get it most places.

I feel your pain. I work as a Surgical Technologist. I have a similar problem. I like Aveda Hand Relief. It is a little on the expensive side, but it doesn't take much, is not heavily perfumed, not greasy and does not wash of completely the first time your hands get wet. I have a problem with palmar eczema in the winter months and this is the only thing that has helped. In fact, for the past two winters, I have had minimal break outs. If your hands are really dry and cracked, get you some petroleum jelly (Vaseline makes a 'cream' Vaseline petroleum jelly) and put it on at bedtime with a pair of gloves. If you don't want to sleep in the gloves, put the Vaseline on with the gloves and somehow warm your hands. (I call this the poor mans hot wax treatment) It really works great. Good luck with those hands.

Get yourself some Uremol cream. It's kind of pricey($30-50 for 500ml) but it actually works to put the moisture back into the skin. It's worth it. Lotions today, even ones like Keri, only 'mask' the problem temporarily. If you can't afford the Uremol, get Eucerin lotion.
I use Uremol on my dry feet because I'm diabetic and it works great. Depending where you are, you may need a prescription for it. One way for extremely evasive treatment is to 'coat' your hands with Uremol at night and wrap them with plastic cling wrap. It will make a big difference fast.
Also try to wear gloves whenever you do the dishes.

The soap is one item that is probably drying out your hands. A good hand cream meant to moisturize, with an antibiotic would help,a lot. If you are getting alcohol on you that could also be causing some of the drying. If you can, use gloves while washing the dishes.

Try a lotion called "Cornhuskers Lotion". It helps heal dry cracked skin, its greasless and smells good too. I'm a waitress and always washing my hands at work. I use the Cornhuskers Lotion and it keeps my hands from drying out and being irritated. I've been using it for about 15 years now.

What you need is a cream not a lotion. Lotion is just for moisture but your hands are extremely dry and cracking badly. Maybe you can call and ask your doctor?

They are dry because of all the dishes and chemicals you are using. so a good thing to use might be a product called Bag Balm. It comes in a Green Tin and you will find it in the pet supply department and you should use it every day and don't wash it off it will help immensely.
Hope this helps!!

that is normally just badly dried skin, try using thicker lotion. that will help keep the moisture in much better. also if it gets too bad, put a little lotion on and throw some gloves on overnight
