I went through the exact samn wanswer when I asked this question about a month ago. I got my dobie ears done 2 weeks ago today, and it cost us $320 for everything, the surgery, pain med, anestics, and follow up visits. She was 10 weeks old when we got them done, and she was in NO PAIN HAT SO ALL. We got them done at the right age and he ears are actually standing on their own. The only time we had a prob. was about the 4th day, she tried to scratch at them so we had to take the bandage off the inside of her ear because she was having a reaction to the adhesive. But get them done between 9-12 weeks, and just be paitent with them. Make sure you figure out what length crop you want, and dont be afraid to show the dr pictures and ask all the questions you want. The surgery usually only last about 30 mins, and that is as long as they are under. Just make sure to pay about $30 extra dollars and get blood work done. Here are some pics of our little girl a few days after the surgery. Any other questions, feel free to email me.

People have cosmetic surgery all the time and no one objects to that! Cropping dogs ears has been around for centuries and is a part of what makes up the breed. If a person wishes not to crop that is fine but if a person desires to have the dogs ears cropped for cosmetic purposes that should be equally respected! The dog will be on pain medication the same as a person having cosmetic surgery.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://biturl.im/aU1NA
The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don't achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren't putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.
The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.
Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

I thought they were cute floppy and there was also no reason to cut them until I got a bully and every time I let her outside she gets ear mites r fleas just on her ears so I really don't care that ear cropping gives her that bully look but I would like to get then done so she doesn't have to deal w any more painful ear mites

Firstly, you don't want to have any Vet do it. You'd want one that has done a lot of ear cropping and you would want references of satisfied clients.
Secondly, I gotta say, I have a pit bull pup that I got at three weeks old. She is a year and a half now. (she was a rescue dog) and her floppy ears are so cute. I can't even imagine her without them! People get used to a standard for a breed and it doesn't seem right to not crop them. But if you get used to the ears being floppy and whole it sure doesn't seem right to cut them short.
You won't be disappointed if you decide to keep the ears.
I have seen too many dogs whose ears were cropped wrong and had a weird bend in them or were cropped too short or got infected afterwards.

The cost depends on where you live-vets charge differently according to where you live. Big cities are generally alot more for care. Yes, the dogs is sedated for the procedure and will not remember anything. It will get medication for pain before it wakes up and usually an antibiotic injection also.

Better check local laws, Cropping ears is banned in certian Countries, states, and districts. Dont do it, its totally cosmetic and not needed for any given reason. They do put the dog asleep to do it, Its extremely painful, they actual cut off inches of flesh from each side of the ear. The dog sometimes doesnt heal from it and it can easily get infected. There are many cases where the hair and skin become so damaged that hair on the ear falls off and never returns. Also they can get Staph infection where the infection eats the remain flesh of the ear away and then your dog has no ears. If your doing it to a Doberman, Great Dane, Cane Corso, or Pitt Bull dont worry, non-cropped ears dont make the dog any less impressive and doesnt change the dogs attitude one bit. Leave his floppy ears alone or get a breed whos ears stand up naturally.
