I think you can call and ask for a credit quote. I believe your first quote is free, but then you'll have to pay for it. However, you should ask them to make sure.

You can't get the credit score from the bank when you call because banks are not supposed to disclose this information. It has nothing to do with any of the reasons that I saw already listed. it is because he only time a bank pulls the score is if you are applying for a loan, credit card ,and at some banks even a check card with the visa or mastercard logo on it. the score pops up right away, ( it takes literaly seconds) and is added to your file but it is still not supposed to be disclosed. Wether this is a guidline for banks or an agreement with credit agencies I am not sure but I do know that we are told not to disclose credit scores when taking applcations for any credit product.

In order to get your credit score the bank would have to pull your credit from all three credit reporting agencies. They would need your signature and most likely would require you apply for a loan for them to do this. They don't just have it readily available to tell you. You can get your credit yourself from the only FREE, legal government ran website www.annualcreditreport.com They will give you a copy of all three of your credit reports without scores. For a score you have to pay them about $9 - it's worth it, since it's the legal site and it's the safest.

No you can not call your bank and ask them for your credit score. The reason being is financial institutions are not credit reporting agencies. More then likely they will direct you to the credit reporting agency of your chosing...TransUnion, Experian, or Equifax...or you can get in good with your favorite banker and they may reveal some info they dont normally reveal.

Why would your bank have your credit score? I guess if you have a loan through them.

I got mine from my credit card company for free.

credit score is not free. you get it from the 3 credit agencies. but if you are turned down for a loan or credit application they have to give you that info if they used it against you.

The bank is the wrong place to go. They will charge you (as they will be charged) if they pull it for you.
Under US Federal law you are entitled to 1 free credit report per year.
Get it from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
