i honestly don't think hes drunk but he's swaggering when he walks, and he kind of hangs his head, he lays there with his eyes half open and not even curled up like he's sleeping. I just got him inside after not being able to find him overnight, and i've gently checked him and he's not hurt anywhere or vomitting-but he's a huge tomcat and for the first time ever he won't eat. When he jumped off of my bed he nearly fell down-like his legs wouldn't hold him up-and there is no emergency vet open nights or weekends in my little town! But we love this cat like a brother!

The major causes of dizziness are middle and inner ear infections and problems affecting the cerebellum (part of the brain that controls balance and spatial orientation). An ear infection may respond to antibiotics but sometimes surgery is necessary to relieve pressure in the middle or inner ear. Feline leukemia virus, feline immunodeficiency virus, toxoplasmosis and other infectious diseases can lead to balance problems. Cats do sometimes get infarcts in the brain with similar effects to strokes in humans. Cancer can cause these signs, as well.

His legs have always held him up in the past, but not now? INDICATOR LIGHT!
He's a huge tomcat - how many huge tomcats do YOU know that doesn't have an appetite? INDICATOR LIGHT!
Swaggering ?! Eyes half open?! INDICATOR LIGHT!
Put all these things together, dude! You should see some kind of INDICATOR LIGHT going off in your head! These are not normal attributes! Your cat has definitely been poisoned, and it probably is either rat poison or antifreeze...and with the big chill we all just went through, I'm willing to bet it was antifreeze! Get him to some vet SOON or he's going to die! GOOD LUCK, I'm saying a prayer right now for you and him.

I had a similar situation with a puppy from my dogs litter.I woke up one morning to find her stiff and not moving but she was breathing. Come to find out that she had gotten into the salt that you put on the ice in the winter. I called the vet and not being able to take her in at the moment he said to try and give her fluids even if you have to pry her mouth open and use a dropper. he said that more then likely she wouldnt make it through the night since she was the runt and we didnt know how much she had injested. But she did make it through the night and is totally fine now. Keep him warm and give him fluids. Y ou have to flush his system Good Luck

I don't think you cat is drunk, but he could be in some bad trouble...alot of things can happen to cats outside, he may have been hit by a car or gotten in a fight, contracted some illness I would be particularly worried about poisoning from your description. If I were you, I would see if any other towns in the area do have emergency hospitals

It sounds like either a seizure or a stroke. Call your vet's number. Generally they have a call service that can reach them in case of an emergency or they have an alternate number on their answering machine. If all else fails, look up the vets home phone # in the phone book. If you cannot get a hold of anyone, it is imperative that you keep him hydrated. Give him water with a dropper, but you may have more luck holding ice cubes out for him to suck on. Good luck.

Get him to the vet, there is a good chance he has drank antifreeze and if this is the case he WILL die. Get him there within the hour if you want any chance at saving him. Good luck! (ps look in your phone book and get him to the nearest one, otherwise he may not make it through the night

There is a common kidney problem that kind of sounds like what you are saying, but due to the circumstances, I'd get him to the vet NOW.

That is classic signs of poisoning! Sounds like antifreeze! If you do not find a vet NOW, he will probably die!!! How far are you from the next town? Start driving!!!!!
