You have to get accustomed to shoving your beliefs down others throats, then persecute others when they do the same.

You have to worship Dawkins and Darwin...religiously.

You have to be "smarter than thou" with your attitude and be void of any logic that doesnt suit your beliefs BUT still call yourself open minded with a straight face. Its a real living paradox.

Here's the difficulty that confronts you: Religion seems to be the ground of your being, the sine qua non of your life. You probably cannot conceive, therefore, of people who do not practice a religion.

This is not unusual, since the structure or our brains is such that we tend to believe that everyone thinks the way we do.

Where you are running into problems, however, is that you have allowed that tendency to lead you to do some rather forced thinking. You assume that everyone has a religion. Atheists do not believe in God, but must have a religion. What can that religion be?

Because your particular religion regards evolution as being opposed to its tenets, and atheists are also viewed in the same light, you have by rather a gymnastic piece of reasoning, concluded that the religion practiced by atheists must be evolution.

It's not an easy thing to step outside of your own beliefs for a moment and in your imagination, try to see another point of view, but perhaps this will help you.

Let's imagine that you are a child and you beileve in Santa Claus. Naturally, you believe then, in elves. If anyone tells you that elves don't exist, you are outraged, because that calls into question the ground belief that Santa exists.

When you reach a certain point of maturity, your belief in Santa is no longer viable. Along with your belief in Santa your belief in elves goes "poof," and is no more.

Your little brother, however, still believes, and cannot be persuaded by any evidence you present that Santa and the elves are not real. He will accuse you of lying, of being vicious, of all sorts of things, rather than allow his belief in Santa to be questioned.

If you can get that far, try now to imagine that there are people who do not believe what you believe about God. If you insist that those people do believe, and are lying or being vicious, you are behaving in the same way as your little brother did regarding Santa.

If you can far enough along the path to realize that these people don't believe what you believe, you might be able to enter into dialogue with them, rather than make pronouncements.

Funny you call evolution a fairytale, considering it has mountains of data to prove it is a fact. Yet creationism has nothing but an old crusty book that says "believe or you're a heretic and you're going to hell!"

BTW for the millionth time evolution is not a religion since it has no deity, nor does it have guidelines on how to live a clean and moral life.

You study the sciences of biology (and a little geology). No faith required. It's about seeing the world and rejecting the fairy tales that are incompatible with reality. No religion required. The closed-minded need not apply.

evolution isnt a religion, so you cant practice it, but simply adapting to the environment is part of evolution as well as when you pass on the trait to offspring. basically evolving is the subtle changes that make a person or animal better suited to survive in a place, its a long process that may take millions of years but will never stop so long there is life anywhere

Actually, I think the "foolish fairy tales" bit applies better to people who study the "science" of creationism.

If you are an Evolutionist, you worship nature, you worship the earth. I would think that you would be a militant environmentalist.

I guess it would be appropriate to occasionally visit the zoo to keep in touch with your primate relatives.

Some Evolutionists construct shrines to their religion in museums. They commission artists to paint their holy pictures of imaginary missing links. They have their relics: jaws from apes attached to human skulls. Teeth that have been filed.

Their saints include Peking Man, Nebraska Man, Lucy and a host of others. Many of these saints turn out to be mythological, while others are composites.

Rather than contributing to their religion, Evolutionists receive taxpayer money to help propagate their religion. Instead of going door to door like the Jehovah's Witnesses, Evolutionists evangelize by having their religious materials distributed through the public schools and on television. They market their religion as "science".

It is not a religion, so there is nothing to practice. Evoluton is a proven fact, and has been used by scientists to make reliable predictions for a century.

At least when most Atheists make fun of religion they actually understand what they are speaking about. Read more than one book and these questions will disappear.
