I don't know what people are actually paying but I did hear on the radio today that car and driver included the FJ on their list of ten cars for sale today, that will be collectors items in the future. They said that all of the cars should be worth more than they cost in years to come.
I don't remember them all but Lotus Elise and Dodge Viper were included. I don't see it though. I think the FJ looks cheap.

The FJ is basically a 4Runner with different sheet metal. If people are paying over sticker, its probably just to be the guy with the first one on the block. It's not worth that much.
I personally think they look ugly, just like the Aztec and Hummer H3.

Dealers will do there best with a hot vehicle as long as they can. If you in the market for this vehicle. You can shop with in a few hundred mile from your home to get the best deals. Use Cars.com or other online buying services to help. You can do everything with a dealer over the phone and in the mail.. They will even ship the vehicle to you in most situations (yes for a cost, but if you can save thousands, then a few hundred for shipping might be worth it).
Good Luck
