I find the Aveeno with the blue label works great for that. But any quality moisturizer used daily will keep the itchy from coming back.
Using a body wash instead of bar soap helps too.... try Dove or Caress Daily Silkening, but you still need to use a lotion.

Me too! Here's what I have done for years: When you get out of the shower DON'T dry off. Apply Johnson's Baby Oil Gel, or Baby Oil, or any other heavy cream all over. This helps to seal the moisture in. It will work, but you've got to apply while skin is still wet.
Another thing I do if my hands get real dry/chapped is to apply a heavy cream or vaseline and put on gloves before I go to bed and sleep with the gloves on all night. It is amazing how they feel in the morning.
One more thing...Linen's N Things sells these bootie socks which have a gel layer inside on the bottom. You are supposed to wear these to bed. They work really well to soften your feet, but don't try to walk in them or you'll slide all over.
Okay, that's all I've got. Stay warm!

This is a great remedy and you probably have the stuff to do it right now. Find a nylon stocking or a pair of pantyhose. Cut about 8 inches above the foot. Fill with oatmeal and tie the end. Add this to your bath. While bathing use the nylon with oatmeal as a cloth and coat your skin. Do this a few times and have a good long soak. It works great.

When you get out of the shower don't completely towel dry, apply some good rich body cream or oil.
You also need to put some moisture into the air in your house, it's too dry.
Don't take a shower or bath with really hot water either.

what works for me is showering with the Johnson's Softwash 24 Hour Moisturizing Body Wash and after the shower using the Johnson's Softlotion 24 Hour Moisturizer. It keeps the skin soft, moisturized, and hydrated. And it smells good, too!

Palmers has a new Olive butter formula that I just love.I'v only been using it for 2 weeks and my skin stays moist all the time.
You can get it at Wal-mart for about 7 dollars.

Moisturizing body wash (soap), shampoo and conditioner. Apply some lotion for extra-dry skin before you are totally dry (while your pores are still open).

Boil water on your stove and put moisture into the air.
It will also make the room feel warmer.
