As long as pot remains completely illegal, there can be no real regulation. You can't buy tobacco until you're 18, you can't drink until 21. Not that it stops younger kids who are determined to drink or smoke, but once of age, how many parents have a drink with their kids? And why would pot be any different? Oh, yeah, because it's illegal! And because most folks out there still believe the absurd propaganda the anti-drug faction spews about marijuana. Yes, pot is a drug, and our children should be educated with truth about the drug, not with scare tactics and outright lies that will lead our children to experiment with worse substances because they found out the "truth about marijunana" is not truth at all.
Parents smoking with their kids younger than 18 - shame on them. Over 18, personally, I'd prefer they smoke pot than drink or smoke cigarettes!

I'm going to go out no a limb here. I don't think it is "hip", but by no means would I vilify it. Aside from the legality, and assuming the daughter is at an age where she can make her own decisions in an adult manner, I see nothing wrong with it. Pot is a relatively harmless drug, which allows many people to enjoy a good book, movie or intelligent conversation. It isn't a gateway drug, nor is it truly addictive like opiate based drugs. I know many people who smoke pot, and I know that their kids smoke pot. They don't smoke it with each other however.
I'm not encouraging it, nor justifying the use, but if they are both going to smoke it, why shouldn't they smoke it together. You can list all sorts of reasons about how the parents have to lead by example, and how the friend is showing his daughter it's ok to break the law. Reality is, however, that most kids will smoke pot sooner or later. Some adults (including Doctors, Lawyers, College professors etc.) smoke pot responsibly.
Would it be weird if pot was legal? Does simply the fact that it is a crime make it odd?

Everyone bitching and spitting out the throw them in jail comments need to chill. The only reason this is so "ABSURD" is because pot is wrongfully illegal. Parents drink with there kids all the time so whats the difference with smoking. Smoking does no harm and is also safer then drinking. If parents were more cool about it like this one parent mentioned kids wouldn't have to be so secretive and sneaky around there parents. I bet that kid and his parent have a better relationship and are more open to each other then you POT HATING Strict parents...Think your doing the right thing, its annoying give it up, your just pushing your kids farther away

Considering that it's a stupid thing to smoke pot with anyone, I'd say it's stupid. But, at least, the daughter isn't going to get in trouble with her parent. Of course, if the daughter gets in trouble, her parent can't help her out.

C'mon..this requires common sense to know the answer.
I'm a mother, and I sure as hell won't be smoking pot with my daughter.
Sure i smoked it when i was a teen.. but no need to bring it around her and encourage her to do drugs. now i can sit her down and discuss how it effected me and be honest with her.. and honestly..it wasnt all that great. plus it burnt many brain cells that im sure wouldnt mind being around today. not that im stupid, but it was stupid to smoke them away.
if you know people who are smoking pot with their daughters, all you need to know is one word: trash. thats just horrible. what kind of message would that give to our daughters. What kind of generation would be running this country (or the earth for that matter) if everyone did that with their children. what a horrible thought.
