i have a headache and a took a bayer, just one, im a little paranoid when it comes to mixing medications, but sometimes asprin and the such make me jittery so i take a 2mg clonzepam(klonopin) to calm my nerves, i was just wondering if it is safe as long as i take it in moderation, i dont want to damage my heart or anything else, i usually take the asprin because of a cyst in my sinuses, its the best i can do until it goes away or i have the cyst removed, thanks

to answer some of your questions, i have taken lortab for the cyst, but i dont like taking it, i just dont like the way it makes me feel most of the time so i take bayer mostly, and i take 2 mg clonzepam b/c they dont really make me feel all that different or "high" as might say, it just makes me feel calm, i was just making sure it was safe to mix the two because i know most pain meds have caffeine in em and the clon. makes you mellow, i also dont do well with anything except bayer or excedrin really, ibuprofen thins my blood too much so i cant take it, just wanted to know if im playing it safe, thanks:)

and to answer your question lily, i used to have a very bad Anxiety disorder, its under control at the moment but if i get jittery it makes me nervous and it usually results in an anxiety attack, so the doctor told me to go ahead and take it at the first sign of the attack, we tried different dosages but they did nothing, i have a high tolerance for the clonzepam for some reason so they upped it to 2 mg and it seems to work when an anxiety attack is coming on, so yes, my doc did tell me to take it, and i havent really seen any BAD side effects except for sleeping a lot when i take them, but the drowsiness usually only kicks in when its starting to wear off, like i said i take my meds in moderation and as my doctor tells me to take it, i just wanted to know if it was ok to mix the headache medicine and the clonzepam:)

May I ask why you are taking clonazepam? At this high dosage, it is usually given for high anxiety, psychiatric conditions. It has a GREAT potential for long term, undesirable, virtually non reversible side effects at this high dose, especially if your taking it every day, and more than once a day. I would worry more about the clonopin than the Bayer aspirin.

Thank you for answering. I 'm glad to see you are not abusing that 2mg dosage. It is an addictive drug (not in the sense that you get high from it, cause you don't), but because your body becomes dependent on it. It's good you take it in moderation., and only when needed. Have seen many people in my profession with these untoward side effects from years of taking continuously, and they are not pleasant. Congrats on being aware of your medicines and worrying about what may happen if mixing them. Sometimes, because of certain disease processes, mixing your meds are unavoidable.

In answer to your orginal question, aspirin and Clonopin should not pose any problems. But too much aspirin can cause GI bleed, ulcer, etc...Please don't rely on alot of aspirin for your cyst. Have you tried other non-narcotic pain meds? Advil, excedrin, Nuprin etc...?

should be fine. but if the aspirin makes you jittery, double check that it's JUST aspirin as the active ingredient, and not something with caffein in it, like Excedrin. ask your doctor if there's something else you should take for your headaches. maybe tylenol or Ibuprofen?

you could try cutting the clonazepam in half or even quarters if you don't want to get too sleepy.

also, did a doctor tell you to take the aspirin for the cyst in your sinuses?

I have taken tylenol, motrin, alleve, aspirin, and tylenol sinus while taking clonazepam. I do not make a habit out of mixing meds--I take the clonazepam every day--and the pain relievers only if I feel really achy or have a fever.

I usually try to eat something before taking any of those pain relievers--yet I can take the clonazepam on an empty stomach.

klonopin and aspirin should mix fine but I'm concerned about the dose of klonopin. That's a big dose. Most people take 0.25 mg.
