what is the deal with parents not know their daughters are pregnant. Hello ?
Don't you grocery shop and buy their feminine napkins and or tampons or don't you notice they haven't had a period or they've gained weight?
I know back in the day when my older sister got knocked up, my mother was ontop of her asking her questions and got it out of her that she was casue my mother was watching and being there and knew something was amiss
are parents just so busy they don't notice their childrens changes?

Before I was ready to tell my mom,the reason for that she knew my size & i had a flat stomache, well my stomache was getting a little thicker.Even my family could tell by my size.I always used my moms pads or she took me to get some,so when she had noticed that I hadn's mentioned anything or said anything about getting some pads, she asked me was I pregnant.I also was laying around all the time being sick.My opinion is if your mother knows you well, she'll find out w/out you telling her.Mother knows everything!!!

this can happen and it not be because you have a bad parent. I have two teen daughter's and no I do not buy their tampons I give them money and they buy their own. If they did not buy them I would not know it.I mite notice if they had morn sickness, but it would still take time to Figure out if they were pregnant or not. Because weight gain can be hid for some time. Myself when I was 9 months I had only gained about 10 pounds still fit into a size 5 paints and no nobody knew I was pregnant. I did not try to hide it I was married and proud to be a new parent. But I am just saying in some causes you can and in some you MIT be able to for awhile.

I worked outside the home and knew what was going on with my daughter, it's called communication. Some families don't have it whether the mother works outside the home or not. In order for parents to know what is going on with their kids they have to be able to communicate with them. I began "communicating" with my daughter when she was very small. We had "slumber party" nights twice a month where I would get to HER level. Twice a month I became a kid, I did the things my daughter did , we played the games she played, watched the types of videos she watched (To this day I HATE Rainbow Bright LOL). I would let HER call all the shots as to what our evenings would be like. We continued that through her highschool years...which made for a more relaxed atmosphere and made it easier for her to open up and talk with me about anything. Some families aren't like that and it has nothing to do with mom's working or not.

I am not a parent to a teen( I am a parent though) but thats a good question. When I was 17 I got pregnant and my mom knew because I didnt ask for tampons one month. I misscarried at 3.5 months. I am now 22 and I know I would notice something like that.

Sad but true, we are in such a fast paced society that alot of people don't notice the things that are really important in life. I have a 13 year old daughter and I cherish every moment I can have with her and we have an open and honest relationship, she is my best friend. I look forward to being there for her when she needs advice and just someone to talk too...

Well, back in the day [not sure how far back] but a lot of times mothers didn't work as much. As gender roles change in our society, more and more women are finding themselves with higher paying jobs but along with money comes with longer hours. So yes, parents might be too busy to even know that their daughter[s] are pregnant.
But also consider that a lot of times, young females buy their own feminine napkins and tampons. I know when I first started my menstrual cycle about 6-7 years ago, I bought it by myself. My parents owned their own store so they were always busy. I just had my grandpa [who took care of my brother and I] stop by the supermarket/drugstore on the way home from school to buy the necessities that I needed.
Another option to consider is the clothes the girls might wear in order to cover up a swelling belly. A lot of girls wear hooded sweater nowadays and some of them wear baggy large ones so it would be easy to hide one.
I'm in college right now and a classmate of mine was pregnant and her mom didn't know. In her situation, her family had a lot of children so her mom was too busy taking care of them to notice about her since she was among the older children. Another thing is that my classmate already had meat on her abdominal area so it wasn't that noticeable. So the increasing weight of today's youth would play a role in that. Of course, there's also the increasing anorexia and bulimia but severe anorexics and bulimics are unable to carry children anyways, so it would be unlikely to happen to them.
Hope that helped answer your question.

I guess they do not care. I think i would be knowing if i weren't seeing maxi pads in the garbage or buying them like you said. I guess they are too busy with their own lives to know what is going on in their kid's lives.
I guess that is why alot of teenagers don't know how they can get pregnant because parents of those teenagers must don't sit them down and talk to them but then again you know my mom never did tell me anything about sex but i knew all what could or could not happen. I mean come on kids on here will ask "can i get pregnant if i do oral sex on him?"
It is just crazy what they believe will happen. It looks like those parents didn't learn their kids common sense either.

I know someone who gave birth without her mother knowing she was pregnant. She worked and paid for her own supplies. She just wore heavy t-shirts and bigger jeans. Not everyone shows all out front.

I was 17 when I got pregnant. My mom didn't know until I told her. The reason? I was living with my husband. That's me though. A lot of parents are naive. They don't want to believe their sweet innocent angels are doing the nasty. They know she's pregnant deep down, but they don't want to believe it.
