No, you don't owe him anything in return. It was his privelege to take you out, a way to show you that he likes you and wants to do things for you. If he expects anything in return, then something seems off to me.

Purpose of dating is to have fun, so don't worry about costs. If it was a good date and you two decide to see each other again then maybe you can pay for the next date but don't feel as if you owe him.

the age-old question. The only thing you owe him is the pleasure of your company, common courtesy and a nice verbal "thank you". Other than that...do what you like--- what feels right -- not because you "owe" anything.
