I think this antibiotic has severe side effects on me including headaches,dizziness,general confusion. My parent says there are No substitutes since it is dangerous to change antibiotics and is very reluctant to discuss side effects with a doctor.

It is very important to discuss side effects and reactions of medications with your health care provider. I'm not sure why one would say it is dangerous to change antibiotics....as health care providers we do it every day....based on diagnosis,side effects,results of past antibiotics, and so on. There are options. So I would very much encourage you to speak to your provider. The effects of medications on patients is of great concern; somthing not to be ignored.

There are many classes of antibiotics. It depends on what you take it for. put a call in to your doc and let him know of the side effects. Check the paper that comes with your RX. that will tell you if it is a common side effect of this drug. Antibiotics can be changed but some are not covered by insurance and some have different side effects. good luck!
