I think men have nipples because of how all humans, are first formed in the uterus. Sex is not defined until after nipples have been formed. They can also me erogenous zones for men, and believe it or not, some men have the capability of breast feeding.

Perhaps, that is the main reason men are born with nipples? To be able to nurse their babies in case of a crisis. Yes it sounds absolutely weird, but it is possible. I just don't want to think of it to much though LOL.

It was explained to me once that we all start of as girls in the womb. I forget when it happens, but basically we all evolve the same in the womb until one day some of us go boy and others stay girl. So nipples may just be a hold over from that short amount of time we were all sweet girls.

One theory is, to pacify the baby while the mother is "out", the father can occupy the baby if needed. Of course this is going back to caveman times. The reason we have wisdom teeth, which is no reason at all today.

on discovery channel i heard that men have nipples because for the first while of developing everybody is created by the x chromosome so boys develop as girls until the Y chromosome kicks in, nipples are already created by this time.

when the sperm and egg is fertilized and grew into a zygote. we all look the same, having all the same organs and feature. but before growing into a fetus, the sexual organs would have been formed, either to boy or a girl.
so the nipple a standard feature on a zygote before it grows into a boy or girl

It seems that human embryos develop mammary tissue before they bother to check on whether they're going to be male or female and start modifying the basic plan with surges of this or that hormone.

Not sure of the reason for them, but they are great to suck on. Highly sensitive for some men!
