The pegs (called stakes) are often part of what holds the tent up and otherwise secure the tent in one spot vs. wind. The ropes (usually called guy lines) tighten the tent to provide more room, wind resistance, and proper rain protection and stabilize and hold up the tent in very bad weather. The window is for ventilation. The outer cover (called the rain fly or just fly) of a double wall tent (there are single wall tents also) allow for ventilation by separating the uncoated and/or screen/mesh walls and ceiling from the wet fly. The tent pole (or poles) holds up the tent. Also, I think the word "parts" is what you meant rather than materials?

The window flap and outer cover are made of nylon; nylon is chosen because it's strong and light and waterproof. The rope is probably polypropolene. Poly ropes are chosen because they're milder resistant and don't get degreaded by the sun, and don't stretch or shrink when they get wet. The peg is probably HDPE or aluminum. Aluminum wire is very cheap and easy to form; the cost of hte peg is less then a penny. If it's a plastic peg (HDPE) then it's less likely to bend then the plastic peg, but more likely to break. The plastic pegs hold better because of their shape, but aren't as good for rocky soil.

The tent pole is either aluminum or fiberglass. Aluminum is sturdier but heavier. It's a good choice for family tents. However, backpacking tents have fiberglass poles because they're lighter. Fiberglass is more expensive.

That should help.

You listed the items, not the materials.

Tents are made with nylon or canvas for the main part of the tent. The poles are made from steel (bigger tents), fiberglass or aluminum, often with shockcord (elastic) to hold them together (not used on the steel poles). There is also the screen material, which is typically nylon.

The reason to use each material is based on cost and weight.

Canvas is cheaper and is not affected by sunlight as much as nylon, but it is much heavier.

Steel poles are cheaper, but heavier. Aluminum is the lightest, but the most expensive. Fiberglass is in between.

"water-resistant rankings even in spite of the undeniable fact that maximum fabrics manufactures calculate water-resistant figures of their very own labs, they typically use similar attempting out procedures, so that you'll be able to take their water-resistant rankings at face value: the better the variety, the more effective powerful the garment resists water. in accordance to authorities criteria, the water-stress a fabrics might want to face up to in order to be deemed one hundred% water-resistant is 25 PSI. you are able to zip up a Marmot Essence Jacket, whose PreCip Plus cloth has a score of 40 5 PSI, sit down interior the rain (7 PSI) and stay dry as a bone. Step in the front of a hearth hose for an hour and in case you are able to stay to inform the tale your ft, you receives moist. uncomplicated. yet outdoor organizations do not always use PSI to spotlight water-resistant high quality. quite they tout tremendous figures which have a more effective tangible meaning than pounds per sq. inch. as an social gathering, the Cloudveil Zorro Jacket has a water-resistant score of 10000mm (10K). This determine represents the quantity of rainfall the cloth can take in a 24-hour era previously the wearer receives moist. In Imperial words, the Zorro Jacket can face up to easily about 33 ft of rain in 24 hours. Seattle, by potential of evaluation, receives 36 inches of rain a year. In a closed gadget, a 20k rated jacket will guard its waterproofness longer than a 10k jacket. in spite of the undeniable fact that, out interior the field any jacket's waterproofness can degrade through the years till the garment ultimately will change right into a clammy, moist mess. Oils, airborne dirt and dirt, sweat, and different contaminates discover their way into the cloth, weakening the hydrophobic forces till the water repellency will change into so adverse that water can basically damage by potential of to the different edge. To wrestle this, Gore-Tex etc coat their hydrophobic cloth with extra impermeable membranes. even as this prevents an infection and guarantees waterproofing, it has unfavourable outcomes on that different magic be conscious—breathability."
