Schnauzers are sooo cute, and Sophie is a great name for her! When I was little, the neighbor who lived behind us had a little shnauzer named Lupus. He was sooo cute and loveable. I am a dog lover, but some breeds I prefer over others. I like Scottish Terriers and Welsh Corgis and German Shephards and Collies and Golden Retrievers. Enjoy your energetic little bundle of fur!

I am a doxie lover!!! I work at my local animal shelter and also do dachshund rescue. Just do a search and you should be able to find sites that have schnauzer clubs where you can chat and get useful information. There are lots of doxie sites but then again, we are a different breed of people! My 1 year old foster Willy loves squeeky toys and can destuff one in under 30 seconds. Sam (2 years) and Willy play tug of war with each other and with me, they love to race in the house and outside, they love to look outside through the patio door, they follow me from room to room (doxies are VERY curious!), they steal toys from each other, and whatever you do, don't say "wanna go for a ride" unless you mean it!!! Buttons and Millie (13 and 11 approx) on the other hand like to take life easy. They are rescues in poor health that I adopted so they can live out the rest of their lives with love and comfort. They still enjoy going for a run (but not far and it's just a walk for me!) and exploring outside. Sleeping in the sun is a good option too, they've told me!

Maybe a short haired Mini foxy, a Jack russel, a Dachshund, Chihuahua - just have a google and see if you like any of these. You need to think of the personality. Jack Russells and mini foxies are definately big dogs in small dog bodies and are sweet and loyal, but could like to dig. Dachshund - that's a sausage dog, expensive but such great nature. Chihuahua have a tendency to be aggressive and are more a lap dog but I have one crossed with a Mini foxie and he is a great dog and person little guy and he also plays fetch and hangs his head (and nearly whole body) out the car window. You could also look at pugs. Remember that pure breds are really expensive and are fair more likely to experience health problems because of the inbreeding. You should just check out your local shelter. I'm sure there's a little guy in there dying to come live with you. They are cheaper and have been vet checked. I got my Rocky from the RSPCA and he is a greatest dog I could ever ask for. Hope that's helpful!

I have 5 Schnauzers, three females and two males.I love this breed because they're very intelligent and have great temperments. My pick of the 5 is Mickey,he has over 100 champions in his lines, but of coarse all have Champions in their lines.Great pet for anyone, but must have a lot of energy to stay up with them.Sorry don't know of any fan clubs,as in my area down South not too many of the Mini Schnauzer breed.Mickey is Dark Salt/Pepper,Mia is Blk/Silver,Patches is Blk/Wht Parti,Dice is Blk/Wht Parti, and last is my new pup named Satin, she is a light Silver.

I have two 12 week old schnauzers. They are very sweet and into everything. They have so much personality and they love my kids. I think its the high energy level of the puppies and my kids that go together nicely.
They also enjoy going outside, and so far house training hasn't been too bad.
We have a salt and pepper name Scout, and a black one named Piper. They are a great addition to our family.

I have a 5 1/2 month old Bichonpoo. She is adorable. See her photo at left, on my 360, at http://www.dogster.com/?449726 and http://www.petspaces.com/esperanza. She is so mellow and loves everyone. She goes almost everywhere with me. I have Multiple Sclerosis and walking her improves my leg strength and balance. I would not walk nearly as much if it were not for me. She is the best thing that ever happened to me.
