Ok. I know this may be a stupid question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway.

1) Why does caffeine make one so awake and energetic? I drank a Grande Cinnamon Dolce Latte from Starbucks at about 5:15 this evening, and I am wired.

2) Is there a way to help yourself fall asleep after having caffeine? It is now 10:42 pm and I need to go to sleep soon. I am very tired but very hyper at the same time. =\

I've been there before, only if I drink a more than my normal coffee intake in a day, especially espresso, its much more potent on the caffeine. I usually exercise, eat something, and a warm glass of milk works wonders for me. I think you can still drink coffee maybe earlier in the day, or if you really want one in the afternoon decaf would be better. I feel for ya, its really an uncomfortable feeling! If you really want the coffee, try to drink it a little earlier next time so it will wear off before bed. Do you have any kind of sleep aid? Sleepytime tea, melatonin, or maybe some milk to warm up? Those are more gentle ways to get to sleep.

Coffee is a stimulant. For some people it is so stimulating that they have a bad reaction to the caffeine and cannot settle down, until the reaction wears off. I think you should drink decaffeinated coffee , if you like the taste, for this reason.

To counteract the effect of coffee you can drink soothing hot tea of your choice, caffeine free of course. And relax, get yourself in a soothing relaxing mood and the sleepiness will come on its own. Watch something boring or listen to elevator type music.

it gives youj a boost of energy and then it goes away it like gives u a lot then stops so u get tired. its better to eat healthy foods other than get a coffee to give u a quick fix then go away
